Now I’m curious, how long did it take you to build the setup compared to the time it actually saved?
It turned out really helpful, I rely on it all the time for years. Actually if you want to know, it's sending an SMS (text) notification to a mobile number, from certain conditions on Telegram, such as messages or mentions in specific groups.
I estimate that a "proper" way would take a ton more effort, would need to build my own client, even if using some framework or library (and are they even up-to-date and kept that way). And I do maintain a Telegram bot, but the bot API is different than a full client, they are limited and can't just connect as normal user.

Oh and that reminds me, not a VPS but on a Kimsufi dedi with some Core i3 and integrated graphics, for a while I ran X.org and Lineage II client in WINE, to run 24x7 in-game shops (that requires the game client with a character logged in constantly running somewhere). But it was kinda inconvenient, camera rotation with mouse over VNC was glitching out hard. And I could run the same on a small PC at home anyway. (And then our pirate server closed down).
