QDE Epyc and Ryzen VPS benchmark and review
Thanks to @qde graciously providing access to two VPS, one Epyc and one Ryzen based, I could benchmark both VPS.
I take it as a good sign indicating that they are proud of their products.
I'd also like to mention front up that those two VPS are quite different. While the Epyc one seems to address more the personal market segment, the Ryzen in my view addresses the business and/or performance market segment and in particular also offers a much more performant disk
Here are the results, as usual based on >= 30 runs over >24 hours.
First, the Epyc VPS.

Note the 2 vCores and 4 GB memory. Performance, incl. crypto, is within what's typical for Epyc. All the flags are there, nested virtualization not though which might be important for some.

Europe - A few really nice results, including NL, Ams (duh!), DE, Fra, and UK, Lon, but CH, Zur is really good as well. All in all really decent but not extraordinary.
Asia/Oceania - quite average, China, Bejing almost as fast as Ozzyland is kind of a highlight.
Africa - meh
Americas - Upper midlevel to the East-Coast and Chicago, remarkably weaker to the West-Coast. South-America is decent though.

Note that here we have only a single core and only 1 GB memory. But the results are much better; also note that there is almost no spread which indicates that either my test VPS was on an almost empty node or, more likely, that they keep the node occupation quite low.
Let's look at the disk results

WUT? What a fast NVMe! Now, that's a disk to run your database on, yay!
I won't show the network results again because they are largely the same as above with a few exceptions (and quirks?) like e.g. NL, Ams a bit over 3 Gb/s (instead of 2.1 Gb/s) and FR, Par not only being significantly faster (almost double) but also with a different target which, next to a few other cases, hints towards partially different routing. But all in all very similar to the above Epyc results.
I also had a (quick) look at their support and did something that might seem cunning but IMO actually is a good indicator re "top support": I created a ticket in the late evening (at about 1 am IIRC) and got a response ...
the next day about noon. So much for "top support".
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining nor do I want to bash qde, actually with a normal (i.e. at least cheap-ish) LET provider I'd be perfectly OK with a response time like that and support limited to business hours (or maybe somewhat extended) that is, "normal support" not "top".
But here we're talking about a tiny Ryzen VPS (1 vCore, 1 GB mem.) with a tiny disk (15 GB) and meager traffic (for NL, Ams) for basically €4 per month and I'd only see one single reason for buying that: top-support, top-reliability, top-performance - which you don't seem to get. Simple as that.
With the Epyc VPS ("Bronze, EUR 6.95/mo") I'm more generous because you get a lot more and enter what I consider reasonable territory (a not ridiculous amount of memory, disk space, and traffic), but at the end of the day I'm not happy with that VPS either, mostly due to the, let's be diplomatic, "rather average disk performance".
Summary/verdict:
What you get is "OK", optimistically looking - but at those prices optimism tends to step aside for expectations or even demands.
The 3 main problems I see are
- prices too high
- no "premium" in sight; support is OK but not premium or business class
- inconsistent (or even illogical) products.
An example for the latter: I get it, an EPYC is a decent processor for many businesses but businesses also expect a nice disk (which however comes with the Ryzen) and 24/7 support (and min > 99.95% SLA, not boring 99.9%).
Also, "Daily offsite backup" may sound nice but a business would immediately ask how much control they have over it.
As I said, not tasty, probably a decent provider with decent service but IMO inconsistent products at way too high prices, sorry.
