DartNode Price Increases

AlteredParadoxAlteredParadox Member, Megathread Squad

Just got this from @DartNode - seems the cheap dedis are safe, but other black friday style offers look to be going up:

Howdy All!

We have some news we would rather share with you directly than have you find on an invoice. DartNode prices are going up.

This is the first time we have raised prices in two years. We held out as long as we could, because keeping DartNode affordable has always been the whole point. But the cost of running the network has climbed steadily over those two years, on power, transit, bandwidth, hardware, and space, and we are at the point where we need to bring pricing back in line with what it actually costs to keep everything running well for you.

Here is exactly what happens and when:

New services ordered from today forward are billed at the new rates.

Anything you already have stays at your current price until its first renewal on or after September 1, 2026.

Warehouse deals are not changing at all. You keep your rate for as long as you keep the service.

And if you would like to hold your current price a while longer, you can pre-pay 12 months on any existing service and lock in today's rate for the full term. That option is sitting in your dashboard through August 15, 2026. Your new rates are in there too, if you want to see what changes for you before you decide anything.

We know this is not the email anyone wants to get. A lot of you have been with us for years, and we do not take that lightly. If you have a question about your account, or you just want to talk through your options, reply to this or open a ticket. A real person here will get back to you.

Thank you for being with us.

The DartNode Team

  • Just got this as well. I had a look at the price increases for my VPSes:

    $10/y -> $23.40/y
    $7/y -> $11.40/y

    The two increasing on mine are

    $12.00/mo -> $21.95/mo
    and
    $64.37 → $119.40 per 12-month term

    Tried to cancel one of them and the site timed out, heh.

    You musta gotten a special!
    I'm going from $3.00 to $4.95.... a 65% increase! :(

    Not quite sure if I would hold my breath on the dedis.

    Although looking at it... Non of their system makes any sense!
    Keep an eye on your accounts people!

    Why am I being shown Monthly when I pay for annual???

    Hopeful on the dedis, but I guess we'll see. One of my increases was actually a dartday giveaway from this year amusingly enough, so I guess ill just cancel that one in a year when it's increase hits.

    Totally get that the market sucks and price increases aren't fun for the provider or the customers, wish everyone the best, just sucks. Some of these seem a tad bigger than others so far, too. Be interesting to see the logic.

    The email says Warehouse deals are not affected, and my $12/year Ryzen black Friday deal says it's a warehouse deal, so I think I'm safe.

    Maybe it's a subtle signal to woo DartDay

    Howdy all :smile:

    If you had a warehouse deal and it was impacted, open an accounting ticket. It seems some people's services were not tied to the order correctly. We are manually going through it, but feel free to open a ticket, and we can get to it quicker.

    Price increases suck, and we spent a lot of time trying to work out how to keep prices low. One of our end data centers did a rather large price change on us, so we'll have to adjust. We are also looking at other options to move equipment into either a new facility or in our own facility to help control costs going forward.

    Of course, we will keep you all in the loop :smile:

    Ah, that makes sense. I have two warehouse deals but strangely, just one of them got the increase. I opened ticket 03b0b319536c8363dcdd83f113818f4d (wow that's a long ticket ID) to ask what was happening.

    Btw, replies to the email bounce.

    And this is a weird bug... When I click on billing and go to https://app.dartnode.com/billing/invoice/33803, it briefly shows the information then redirects to https://dartnode.com/warehouse-deals. But the other invoice, https://app.dartnode.com/billing/invoice/35314, works fine. I added that information to the ticket.

    Actually, it seems that that invoice was "manually created by a staff member", so that's probably why it's not correctly tied to the Warehouse deal.

    Hah, i think there's a shorter ticket number on the right sidebar, at least there is for me... but its kinda funny it shows the long one on the nav bar and the smaller one on the sidebar.

  • I tried to check mine, only 1 showed up, and it was one the yearly deals from Dart Day, but the changed price is odd. I am not sure this makes sense.

    P.S. @DartNode if you can please make it easier to tell which invoice is from which VPS service, I would appreciated it.

    I'll second that, the whole service bundle thing is confusing as hell with invoices

    Oops! Yes, it's actually ticket #28573.

    Edit: That was quick! It looks like they fixed it (although it still shows a price increase on my end, but that's temporary apparently).

    We can work on a way to nest stuff on the invoices :smile: bundles are a mess, even in the admin backend. We did do a big update during DartDay with the queue fixes that made it better. I can get it added to the Invoice side for clients as well :smile:

    Hey @keoir ,
    Seems like all the services impacted for me (at least in the dashboard link) are correct except for one which is a VDS-2. I forget if it was a warehouse deal since it's been like 2-ish years now but pretty sure it was since it is/was cheaper than the normal VDS pricing. Should I still open a ticket regarding it even if I can't find my original email?
