Location? Budget? Monthly traffic requirements? You need to give more information.
And what do you mean by a "special kernel for kvm server". You know you can install any OS and kernel you want when you're using KVM, right?
Monthly budget: 6TB data plan, location not limited, maximum budget: $30.
$30 per year or $30 per month?
$30 per month for a dedicated KVM kernel refers to a non-shared kernel.
$30/month is a lot for just 6 TB/month traffic. You can pick pretty much any provider.
One of my favorite providers is https://advinservers.com/. They are cheaper than $30/month but they are reliable.
I need a dedicated server, at least 4 cores and 16GB RAM, or one with integrated graphics.
You said KVM, which is different from a dedicated server. I don't know as much about that in your price range, sorry.
You need dedicated CPU cores or the whole CPU? It looks like you're mixing different things, kernel and CPU.
I think what you need is one of those big VPSs with lots of traffic and located near your customers/audience. You said nothing about location.
You don't really know much about this do you? It seems to me that you are not fully prepared yet.
Both KVM and dedicated servers are acceptable, as long as they offer stable performance and can handle live streaming.
Does it need to have hardware video encoding? Because you mentioned a GPU.
Might as well use managed service https://nyst.live/
Yes, there's dedicated server, but you have to state the spec firsts beyond the 5TB requirements e.g:
My description is incorrect. I need KVM or a dedicated server.
A big KVM VPS with lots of traffic, good performance and located near your customers/audience for $30/month could serve you well and is not too hard to find. I'm confident several providers could sell you one if that is what you want.
You can use software-based or hardware-based encoding. For hardware-based encoding, the CPU's integrated graphics are sufficient. A dedicated GPU is too expensive.
Consider hourly gpu
It would be even better if it were cheaper.
1080p60 live stream—not many viewers
Then, just go with nyst. If you need hourly GPU, much of AI-GPU hosts provides hourly billing at $0.5-0.7/h hour.
Also, @Shakib had sold VDS+VD-GPU-slice $360/3year. But, getting service transfer may be impossible because it's one of a kind in LET
That's over my budget. I'm streaming 24 hours a day.
I need to set up a 24-hour unmanned live stream.
Do you stream cctv feed or something?
5TB/720h= 7.01GB/hour. So, that's equivalent to 10 concurrent 1080p60 (YouTube).
Live weather broadcasts and the like
Hmm, then just use regular server. No one will DDoS a weather livefeed, right?
If a standard server isn't powerful enough, I'm worried there will be frame drops and lag, and that CPU and memory usage will spike.
Some people r jus cunts
I would check the providers fair use too as some get a bit unhappy if cpu is in high use consistently, you could try a VDS too your less likely to have issues regarding cpu use
Yes, some service providers don't allow prolonged CPU and bandwidth usage, so I'm looking for a dedicated server or a KVM server with full access rights.
Also I know you said location not limited is there still a preference or literally jus anywhere
Anywhere is fine. I'll be streaming on Bilibili.
This thread gave me herpes.
