Is it just me or what.. 120 eur pretty high for the Intel Xeon E-2286G dedicated server.
Dmca/public torrents in France?
Did you read their AUP?
That's vague though. Usually people want to know if the provider will ban them after one or two complaints, or if the provider will just forward the complaints (as legally required) and let the complainant sue the defendant. I don't think the server host has any legal obligations besides forwarding the complaint and identifying the server's owner, but many hosts are trigger-happy and that's what people want to know.
Well, if someone is just going to be pirating with torrents as was the implication, that's a little different from wanting to avoid a mere trigger-happy provider.
If you did want to run a pirate server you'd be stupid to tell your host that you want to run a pirate server, because that would make them complicit. When they have actual knowledge of a crime occurring, I think they're obligated to prevent it, usually by terminating the customer.
There are many reasons to be concerned about DMCA report handling when you aren't doing anything illegal. A DMCA notice isn't actual knowledge of a crime occurring, because bullshit notices are often sent around. But many providers will treat it as if it is.
Yeah I totally agree, I just figure that the question was asked because that person wanted to do torrenting and would be expecting floods of (legitimate) DMCA complaints. But I could be wrong.
Well, the other side of the equation is that hosts that want to host pirate servers aren't going to advertise it because that makes them complicit. If a host would completely ignore all DMCA complaints, and they're anywhere near US or Western European jurisdiction, they wouldn't say that. Some do say that, but they're in places like Russia or Moldova.
