Hi, interested in locations in Indonesia?

    Any deals?

    We have the following specifications

    Dual E5 2680v4
    RAM 32GB
    Storage 512GB SSD
Up to 1Gbps Local, Content + International Bandwidth
    Unmetered Bandwidth
    /30 IPv4 + /64 IPv6

$444/mo, price can fluctuate due to the IDR-USD exchange rate ;)

Whoa, I thought it's going to be 1/10th of the price at max

Yea I was also thinking about it, cuz I previously saw some other deals before coming on the forum and they have the following specs(previously crawled from this forum, but the promo has expired):

    HK Dedicated Server
    Dual Intel Xeon E5-2630v4 Processors
    32GB DDR4 RECC RAM
    480GB SATA SSD
    40TB Traffic @ 1Gbps Port
    1* /32 IPv4 address
    1* /112 IPv6 block

I'm not advertising for anyone btw, just a mention for the specs I saw before.
The price is 55USD/mo, so I think this could be a baseline.

    Youre welcome, tell me, what is a "high frequency"? 33MHz? 100Mhz? 1 GHz? 2 GHz? 3Ghz? 4Ghz? 5Ghz? 6GHz?

    Is an i7-970 3,5 Ghz equal to a 14100 3,5 GHz?

Which one is high frequency compute?

Usually high-frequency compute refers to the ability for the core to have a high boost. It's the difference between boosting +200 MHz and boosting +1500 MHz. For a VPS, this means having very few neighbors so the core is actually able to achieve boost when you need it, and it means having a CPU that focuses on single-threaded performance like a Ryzen.

Most processors designed for VMs and similar workloads will have a large number of relatively slow cores with limited boost ability so a provider can cram the node full of VMs without scaring off everyone with insane CPU steal. These cores are usually spending most of their time servicing other VMs even if yours is idle, so it has little room to boost when you need it. Most AMD EPYC processors are like that. Compare that with Ryzen CPUs which have fewer cores, but faster cores. If a provider uses a Ryzen, they won't be able to put as many VMs on the same node, so they'll have to charge a higher price despite Ryzen being a cheaper processor overall. But for the customer, it's great because the core is nice and "well-rested" when you need a sudden burst of power, so it'll be able to boost to a much higher frequency just for you.

And obviously you can only compare clocks loosely within a given generation due to improvements in the microarchitecture: fewer cycles required to retire a given instruction, better superscalar capabilities giving higher IPC, and so on. But if you're comparing one Zen 4 core at 2.5 GHz with another Zen 4 core at 3.8 GHz, you can generally assume that the latter will be faster. Don't overthink it. In your mind, just replace "high-frequency" with "strong on-demand single-threaded performance" and mind yourself that neither hosting providers nor their clientele are CPU microarchitecture engineers or researchers.

Are you currently using MejiroNetwork? How is it?

If you're looking for a dedi alternative maybe @jayjay from mlnl.host could help:
    https://www.millenial.host/portal/store/dedicated-servers-hong-kong

Unmetered traffic is not really possible to offer in APAC at that price. Their dedis have 15TB, so it should match your requirements.

For a VDS you may take a look at Greencloud ( @NDTN @haodo ) VDS servers in Singapore, Japan or Hong Kong.

The EPYCVDS-4 plan comes close to your requirements for a VDS and costs $40/month. Those plans have 8TB traffic at 10Gbps and use EPYC Milan processors. I believe this is pretty good for a VDS server in APAC.
Not sure what is their policy on SMTP port.

Thanks for taking your time, obviously i knew that. All i wanted to know was what the hell hes trying to sell to someone, given that he just posted google, its obvious whats going on. Marketing on vague undefined clockspeeds, what a flashback, fucking hell xD

But as said earlier as well, vultr does the same, here have some "Fast 3GHz+" (WOW, such speed) and nvme, which at least doesnt make it as terrible as it could be, but still pretty shit xD

I cannot fathom how its so hard to tell what cpu line/range youre selling as your definition of "high frequency".

2012, 4 Ghz was "high frequency" now its pretty piss poor, given that "high frequency" now is 6 Ghz and anything else could mean whatever.

Edit: Let alone that it makes a difference on if you get Intel or AMD because, yes, the difference in how they do math......

Amusingly, the top models for overclocking have always been AMD Opteron and Intel Core2Duo, which have both reached something like 9 GHz on a single core under sub-zero and high-voltage conditions. IPC is terrible of course and it's surely slower than a single 2.5 GHz Zen 5c core in any benchmark but cycles per second, but that's still damn impressive!
