What to do with short term idle servers
Does anyone have any ideas on easy ways to monetise idle servers for a short period of time (1-3 months)?
I have some well priced high end hetzner auction servers (high NVME storage xeon gold 5412U, high RAM epyc 7502P) that I dont wantt to let go (given RAM/NVME price rises) for future projects, but paying for them to sit around doing nothing until I need them in 1-3 months is also not very appealing.
Best idea I've come up with is providing them to a decentralised hosting platform but all the blockchain side of it seems like a lot of effort and potentially scammy and would probably only cover half cost anyway.

No, no legit bussiness that short like 1-2 month, not scammy and not own the server(or atleast buy from some telegram man). And do you have enough brave to give your server access to randos ? Its hernetz and if they spam or do anything against TOS you fucked all your server
If it was that straightforward, everyone would do it. You can try solana node but this is pretty complex. I think they have node support grants.
Use them as backup server. Or do something like re-encoding video to more efficient codec. File deduplication also works.
Also, @Neoon has written extensively about llm with cpu
If I was looking to make profit, I'd agree that it would be very hard to do easily. I'm just trying to cover say 70% of my cost on already cheap servers, but yeah even that's hard seemingly.
Thanks, this might be worth looking into.
