Performance Wordpress hosting

paulbpaulb Member

Looking for performance Wordpress hosting - budget 10 to 30/mo

Currently using a 3core 4GB VPS with Apache, Centos CWP.

Website is under light load (a few hits per hour) and performance is OK, but would lightspeed be better ? I am looking to improve the gtmextrix score which is a C or D currently

A managed shared host would be preferred providing it has the same performance as a VPS.

Self managing is a becoming bit of a pain.

Be great if someone can list any client Wordpress sites that have a good gtmetrix score

It's worth noting that the hosting is only one part of the equation. A lot of satisfying checks from the likes of PageSpeed Insights and GTMetrix comes down to the website itself - i.e. how well optimised (or not) your plugins and theme are.

Poor hosting can certainly be a contributing factor but I also wouldn't automatically expect to suddenly see "Grade A" across the board just by switching hosting.

A few things you can do include making sure you're using the latest version of PHP, setting up PHP OPCache, Redis, setting up indexes/keys, switching to InnoDB, etc. This is a good plugin for the latter items.

well optimized apache would also deliver excellent performance. offloading server management and WP Performance optimization to a professional is a way to go!

https://www.webpagetest.org would also give you useful insights.

as @EthernetServers pointed out. must look inside the WP itself whether its shared hosting or a VPS.

Agreed, it is a rather content full site made with Beaver Builder, so there is a lot to load. Cache is enabled, but would a CDN such as Bunny be a good idea ? Haven't tried this yet.

Otherwise a manage host should be OK - I am looking at giving hostwild a go.

I prefer wood and stone. You see it from a mile away.

Try a Ryzen or Epyc VPS with SSD. Works wonderfully for me. There are many deals from time to time.

Yes. Bunny with its replicated SSD Edge storage delivers decent performance improvement.
