i assume you are referring to a wireless router.
just choose wifi 6 (ax) router with any brand you like.
if you have device that support wifi 7, you can consider wifi 7 router.
for me, i just buy xiaomi ax3200 then flashed to openwrt firmware.
LoS speed and quality has gone up substantially with things like Wi-Fi 7, but your standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is about the same that it's always been. The main improvements in the last decade have been security and processing power (which helps if you're running third party firmware or using an on-router VPN or NIDS).
I switched from a Netgear Wifi5 router to ASUS Wifi6 mesh routers. I had a significant increase in performance. I would recommend ASUS routers, at least in the US.
Wifi 7 is more than enough for home users imo. Just setup wifi 6 mesh routers.
Depends on what you need.
There are some quite performant models on the market these days. Check the Chinese vendors, they have devices which are cheap, fast, customizable and rather well researched by the community. Just read the reviews/corresponding threads first.
If you don't know what you're after, get something used and (dirt-) cheap.
I'm unsure why, but I dug up a couple of ancient D-Links recently. They were collecting dust for probably about a decade.
Turned out D-Link DIR-6x0 still works quite well these days. Despite that I remember it was some OEM (?) model, unpopular among the users. That's why I was able to buy it used for peanuts even back then.
