  • be aware .us domains don't support WHOIS privacy, made a mistake buying one a few years back and got a ton of spam emails and calls :/

    Yeah, that’s basically correct, and it’s a common surprise for people who register .us domains.

    The .us TLD has stricter eligibility and disclosure rules compared to many generic TLDs, and WHOIS privacy/proxy services are generally not allowed under its registry policy (managed by Neustar / Registry Services under U.S. rules). As a result, registrant contact data is typically required to be publicly accessible in WHOIS/RDAP records.
