Looking for Dedicated Server for Email Sending

HanumanjiHanumanji Member
edited March 13 in Requests

First, I’d like to clarify the use case. The server will be used for sending cold outreach emails. I’ve been in the lead generation industry for nearly 3 years, and I care about spam, IP reputation, and abuse prevention just as much as you do.

Our campaigns are highly targeted and sent only to relevant contacts. We also strictly respect opt-outs and maintain proper suppression lists to ensure recipients are not contacted again if they request removal.

If this use case works for you, here are my requirements:

Location: US or Europe
Minimum RAM: 16 GB
Minimum CPU: 4 Cores
Minimum Storage: 480 GB SSD
IP Block: Ability to allocate a /29 or /28 subnet if needed.

Thank you.

Hey Hanumanji, We're based in the Netherlands and can cover your requirements. Quick question though - does it have to be a dedicated server, or would a VPS with the same specs work for you as well?

I hope you are aware that most of the world sees everything that is not opt-in as spam.

  • I am running an OVH KS-2 as a mail server. Decent price and good deliverability. You can also add additional IPs/subnets.

I’m not sure why this is being focused on so heavily when I’ve already clearly mentioned that the use case is cold email. Cold emails are, by definition, not opt-in, but there is a proper and responsible way to run them. That’s very different from the kind of spam activity you seem to be referring to.

The cold email industry is quite large and widely used for legitimate lead generation. As someone managing hosting and IP infrastructure, I would expect the distinction between responsible cold outreach and abusive spam practices to be understood. Anyone with real experience in this space should be able to relate to that.

Interesting. How’s the deliverability? I’m curious as well since @COLBYLICIOUS asked the same thing. Also, how clean is their ASN reputation? I’ve heard OVH’s network sometimes gets a lot of spam activity, so I’d be interested to know how it’s performing in practice..

There was an blacklist tool which has the whole OVH ASN banned but I don't remember which one exactly.

It's the scamlist, uceprotect.net run by one grown ass men, who acts like a child and tries to press the money out of providers and users.

It doesn't have a good reputation, whitelist or whatever you could think of, out of the box. So you have to build it up yourself, like with most providers, but not all.

After some time, it's fine. I mean for example, I got into the inbox of Gmail, Ionos, Proton etc.

The spammer is trying to sell me his spam as legitimate lead generation.
    Seriously your job is disgusting.

Exactly! Someone with experience in this space should be aware of idk... fucking laws.
But hey, since I don't know what I'm taking about, lets refer to this article from a German law firm.

    https://www.srd-rechtsanwaelte.de/en/blog/email-marketing-without-consent

Principle: No advertising without explicit consent

No advertising without express consent - that is the basic principle. Since the burden of proof for the existence of consent lies with the advertiser, the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has ruled that the mere registration of an email address on the sender's website ("single opt-in") is not sufficient (BGH, judgement of 10 February 2011 - I ZR 164/09)

And before you start saying anything. This is based on a EU directive, so all EU countries have similar laws in place.

A dutch source for example (https://www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/en/themes/internet-and-smart-devices/advertising/digital-direct-marketing)

Can you give me the IP from the server or from where you're sending from to check the Blacklist please?

Later edit: through private message, of course.

Just a reminder that this forum is white hat: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/137719/lowendtalk-community-rules/p1#whitehat

Otherwise, yes, technically, "cold outreach emails" don't necessarily fall under "spam" in all precincts, but this crucially depends on the details of how "cold outreach emails" are implemented, and from our perspective (= the perspective of forum users), you're just a random guy who registered your account on January 7th and you've made no contribution to the forum outside of your two threads that ask for a dedicated server from which to send many emails, so why should anyone here believe or trust what you're saying?

In this situation, the great majority of smaller providers will want to stay away from you, and you already know who the big providers are

Emails sent without consent are spam no matter cold or big industry. Just because theres a proper way to do it doesnt change the fact that unsolicited emails annoy most people. Lets not sugarcoat spam !! @SKRIME stay away I would say....

I mean, cold outreach in bulk is basically spam.

Contacting a local business as a fellow local business to offer a service they might benefit from that you'd like to create a working relationship is one thing. I've done that before occasionally although showing up in person or having some relationship or faimiliarity at the very least is more likely to get a good result. But we're talking 1-2 emails a day to intentional customers. You don't need a dedicated server for that.

If you don't see the difference between that and what you're doing... honestly I hope nobody rents you a server. I don't mean this out of a place of negativity... just that we all already get way too much spam and are all sick and tired of it.

On MXToolbox blacklist check it just has UCEPROTECTL3 as a positive, but we all know that list is a scam and doesn't really matter.

What if a provider were to 'require' a refundable deposit for these types of services? Just like you leave a deposit when you rent a car. You get it back 100% if the car is returned in the same condition that you got it in.

If you return the IPs clean just like the day you got the service, deposit is returned. If even 1IP is listed or a report (with proof) is received, deposit is bye-bye-bye.

I wonder how many 'cold outreachers' would still buy this 😄

If we do that, the list of non-clean IP's have to be completely independent from any outside influence for example which can be tough because some providers might actually try to take this as incentive and the incentives feel a little shadow-y to me but overall a great idea.

It depends on how much the cost of an IP is as well.

To be honest, can something like this not be done with BYOIP Vps providers and then buying/leasing an ipv4/ipv6 too for what its worth, I am not familiar with this a lot so maybe I am wrong, I usually am but thoughts?

And yet they still get the spam button clicked on them. Isn't that strange...

They are spam and but they do get leads. I have seen so many legit business buying such services from provider like OP and it works for them.

But for me, every day I get such cold-mail (spam) mail which means they are scrapping my email from somewhere and then added to their data. Totally not cool.
