Telnyx involucration
A few days ago, I noticed that my SIP service from Telnyx was no longer working. Inbound calls to my Telnyx number were just playing back a "the dialled number is unallocated" greeting.
Without prior warning, Telnyx had put my account into a "dormant" state where all services are paused until the account is put back into verified state.

A friend of mine who is also a Telnyx customer got the exact same treatment: services stopped working without any prior notice.
To get the account back, they asked for pictures of my passport and face scan (Onfido verification), which I provided but which was promptly rejected:

May be that I still ask their customer support for clarification, but considering that I was not a very profitable customer (just paying the minimum of $1/month to keep one inbound number active) it feels like they have just taken the opportunity to shed non-profitable customers.

Does anyone know of any good VoIP forums?
We have Telnyx also, no issues so far here, but that's pretty disturbing.
What other options are out there?
They have always been so strict there's nothing new. I used them in the distant past.
Lame if they didn't send a "login to your account in X days to prevent this" with one or two nag emails before hand.
have telnyx pivoted for vc $ ?
have used them for s3 compatible storage for a while and now this is completely gone from their site it's all voice ai, voice api. its no longer in the products or solutions dropdown -- only "make your ai agent talk to customers" nonsense
I remember years ago I had something like this with voiptalk in the UK. Had one of their earliest accounts with no monthly fee, and a shit-ton of credit because you had to keep topping it up regularly.
Over COVID (not helped that I got it badly and was out of action for about a month) I forgot about it, and they just cancelled my account and I lost all my credit.
My PAP2T hasn't been plugged in since..
Happy to announce that I finally got my account back! All in all it took 7 days and 7 round-trips with their customer support before I got a second attempt at filling in the KYC form. My Telnyx services suffered a downtime of 10 days in total.
Timelime:
2026-02-24: Account marked as dormant. All services were suspended.
2026-02-26: My first attempt at submitting KYC, that failed.
2026-02-27: Reaching out to customer support asking for an appeal.
2026-02-06: Customer support sends a new KYC form for me to submit. KYC is accepted and I regain access to my account.
Object storage is advertised on their main site, but you have to click the VIEW ALL PRODUCTS link to see it.
Worryingly, SIP Trunking is not advertised on their front page either. All focus seems to be on Voice AI and Voice API these days.
The way I view it was how everything not AI(tm) is pushed aside, hidden in a footnote, having to click view all and scroll to the very bottom when previously it was on your front page gives me hesitancy of such focus goals
Gross. What the heck does being inactive have to do with identity verification.
Until recently (because I don't really have any use for it) I used Zadarma for over 5 years; never had a single issue with them except their control panel being ugly, complicated and hard to understand. Once you have set it up you don't have to touch it ever again though so I'd recommend looking into them.
VOIP Tech Chat (used to be at dslreports, before that went away).

I use AnveoDirect.
SIP Trunking revenue is peanuts compared to what a slick salesperson can bring in selling AI products to FOMO driven CEOs.
