Anyone using Gcore GeoDNS / GeoDistance routing? Unlimited queries for $2.5/month seems too good?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking at GeoDNS / GeoDistance routing for one of my use cases.

Requirement:
Route users to the closest node inside a region, mainly for low-latency access (WebSocket service / API).

Gcore DNS (Pro plan) offers:

GeoDistance / GeoDNS routing rules

Health checks (hostname level)

Failover (removes unhealthy IPs from DNS answers)

Weighted routing / fallback

Unlimited DNS queries in Free tier and 10 Million in Pro tier
0.2 USD per million

Around $2.5/month

Whereas Cloudflare/Bunny/AWS etc usually charge per million DNS queries or extra for load balancing.
Questions:

Is anyone here using Gcore GeoDNS in production?

How reliable is their DNS globally? (especially outside EU)

How fast is failover in real world with low TTL (30–60s)?

Any hidden limits / gotchas with unlimited queries?

Would you trust it for a SaaS / realtime WebSocket service?

Would love to hear real user experiences before I move traffic.

this is misleading. it's free for 10M queries/month if im not mistaken.

after 10M its 0.23 USD per 1 million queries, which is very expensive compared to bunny for standard DNS ($0.1/1m after 20M free, $0.3/1m after 1M free for geodns)

for geodns.. maybe it's quite cheap with flat pricing.

Sorry its unlimited for free tier. and yes in pro tier its 10 Million. And in bunny latency based routing comes under smart queries, not standard queries, i had clarified this with their support. And bunny charge you $0.3/million and gcore $0.20 /Million. Corrected my original post. Also bunny free tier is not monthly its cumulative free request of 20 and 1 Million.

  • Dnspod offers this for free iirc

  • Check CloudDNS

Health check is limited to 1. This is literally useless, if you want to auto failover to fallback if a node is down. Gcore support 5, and bunny support unlimited health checks
