Why or why not: DNSPod (DNS hosting related to Tencent)

Have you used DNS hosting from DNSPod, or considered it? It has a free tier.

Comments

  • It may be a good service, but it is from China. Most of us do not have enough social credits to use it.

    social credits.

this is a lie, if you travel to china , ask someone, no anyone know it

  • dnspod is use for fast flux hosting :)
    That's fine.

If no one knows it - it does not mean that it does not exist. Like ghosts or aliens. You must believe, the truth somewhere out there.

  • Kiwifarms has been using them since the Cloudflare fuckery. It can do geo-dns and checks if the IPs are alive. Good enough for them.

in china has a term "天下没有不透风的墙" , tranlate is "There are no secrets that stay hidden forever." No one knows for sure, but it's highly likely that it doesn't exist. Some people live in an imaginary world.

alright, tell me one example that you can't do something because your "whatever credits" is too low in China, i am curious about it

  • Unless you primarily serve clients in China, I wouldn't recommend them

  • Has anyone created a Tencent Cloud account? Apparently they require a phone number.

  • Bunny DNS better than DNSPod. We use both before BunnyDNS is far better

yes, i've used. quite good for dns hosting. i was on their old UX dnspod.net made for English users. dnspod.com is used mostly by chinese. They are one of the top 10 largest dns providers on the planet. I used free plan.

  • You have a minority opinion. I'm listening to you and wondering if it isn't as bad as people say. From what I'm reading, however, if a DNS host is untrustworthy then bad things can happen.

    uptime is good. (no failover)
    dns panel was also good.

you can try with a demo domain for a month and then decide to transfer your production site. they are just like any other dns provider in US/EU region. IDK why specifically you want to try them when other similar options are available. I tried them because they had many dns servers in Asia region. beyond that there was no plus point.

  • What was your experience with account creation, providing a phone number, instructions that sometimes don't appear in English, etc?
