The commercial projects are regularly checked, you can see the WHMCS Banner Manager has had a lot of updates this year: https://marketplace.whmcs.com/product/6544-banner-manager
The others, we base it on reported issues, also as we use them and find any bugs etc. We are consistency coding regularly, day to day really, testing new systems and developing in-house software that helps feed into our pubic projects.
We have a major project coming this year, but very early on to even share publicly what it is but hopefully something the LET community will like to have a look at
