Looking for Feedback: PanelAlpha Engine WordPress Hosting (Non WP Cloud) – $2.00/mo per site

Hi LET,
Have you guys recovered from the Black Friday VPS shopping spree yet? ![]()
In one of our previous posts, our WordPress hosting was mentioned by some LETers who asked whether there would be any special offers. Unfortunately, due to the overhead cost of the WP Cloud platform, offering a discount on this product wasn't really feasible. However, since PanelAlpha Engine is out of Beta and I previously beta-tested it, I figured it was time to put it to work and have been running tests to see how it performs! So far, I'm pretty happy with the results.
I'm looking for some community feedback on a WordPress hosting offering built around PanelAlpha + PanelAlpha Engine (PAE). This is similar to, yet entirely separate from WP Cloud. PAE uses Docker-based containerization, and the servers are dedicated exclusively to running WordPress on PanelAlpha Engine.
We chose OpenLiteSpeed as the underlying web server as it consistently performs better with WordPress than Nginx or Apache, especially when you factor in LSCache, which is part of OpenLiteSpeed, and Redis object caching.
Hosting Locations:
- New York
- London
- Singapore (coming soon)
What each site plan includes
Each live site comes with:
- 10 GB NVMe storage
- 4 MySQL databases
- 4 FTP and sFTP accounts
- PHP versions 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 (PHP 8.4 expected soon)
- Redis object caching
- Automatic and Manual downloadable S3 backups with region-specific buckets, including EU-friendly locations
- Cloudflare DNS, WAF, CDN, and caching
- DNS Zone Editor
- phpMyAdmin
- ModSecurity is enabled on the hosting environment for users who are not using Cloudflare proxy
- Let's Encrypt SSL and support for custom SSL certificates, though Let's Encrypt is recommended since it renews automatically
- No bandwidth cap
- No visitor count limitation
In addition to that, you get the complete PanelAlpha feature set:
- One-click WordPress installs
- Simple and quick WordPress site import feature
- Staging, cloning, and site duplication
- Plugin and theme management
- Security checks and file integrity tools
- Backup and restore points
- The ability to download backups
- File Manager
- Optional automatic core updates
- Per-site access controls
- A management interface designed entirely around WordPress rather than a general-purpose hosting panel
The $2.00/mo pricing includes PanelAlpha's per-site licensing costs, so the recurring per-site price covers licensing overhead while keeping things affordable.
WP Cloud vs PanelAlpha Engine (PAE)
A quick comparison for anyone familiar with WP Cloud:
WP Cloud
- Fully isolated edge containers running inside Automattic's global cloud
- Global routing and excellent durability
- Designed for high-traffic production sites
- Premium infrastructure with a premium price point
PanelAlpha Engine (PAE)
- Docker containerization per site
- Runs on dedicated Linux servers built strictly for WordPress
- OpenLiteSpeed backend optimized for WP and Redis caching
- Local NVMe storage
- Not globally distributed like WP Cloud, so while downtime is still rare, the risk is naturally higher
- Much lower cost per site ($2.00 vs $8.00 per month)
Pros of PAE Hosting
- Low $2.00/mo per-site model
- OpenLiteSpeed provides strong WordPress performance without complicated tuning
- Redis caching included
- PanelAlpha simplifies management without the overhead of cPanel or Plesk
- Fast local NVMe storage
- S3 backups with region choice
- Cloudflare handles DNS, CDN, WAF, and caching
- Pricing already includes the per-site licensing costs
The disadvantages of using PAE vs WP Cloud
- No global edge network like WP Cloud
- Not built for extremely high-traffic or globally distributed workloads
- Slightly increased risk of downtime simply due to the difference in infrastructure scale
The goal is to offer an affordable, high-performing WordPress stack without the distractions of traditional cPanel/Plesk/DirectAdmin backend or the clunky WP Toolkit with all the helpful features hidden behind a paywall.
Is $2.00/month per site a reasonable price for LET? Would you use this for small sites, client sites, dev sites, or low-traffic production sites?
If LET is interested, I'll ask the Mods if it's OK to post an offer. If not, it's still a win because the feedback will help us improve things ![]()
