Anyone tried Alibaba Cloud ESA (Elastic Site Acceleration)?
Hey everyone,
I recently came across Alibaba Cloud ESA, which seems to be their global site acceleration and edge caching service, something like a hybrid between Cloudflare CDN and AWS CloudFront, but optimized for Asia-Pacific and cross-border acceleration.
I’ve been testing it for a few weeks, and here are some quick impressions:
Setup: Very straightforward if you already use Alibaba Cloud DNS or OSS. You can bind your custom domain and deploy acceleration nodes within minutes.
Performance: From my tests, latency between Southeast Asia and mainland China dropped significantly.
Features: It includes intelligent routing, HTTPS, image optimization, and static/dynamic content acceleration.
Pricing: Pay-as-you-go, and surprisingly affordable compared to global CDN giants — especially if your traffic is mostly Asia-based.
I’m curious if anyone else here has tried ESA yet — how does it compare to Cloudflare APO, BunnyCDN, or QUIC.cloud in your experience?
Any gotchas or tuning tips?
