I would think that HK will be preferred over JP for CN routes - isn't that correct?

Even HCM/HN are "closer" and so I would have thought they're better routing wise but I guess JP (specifically Softbank) seems to be very good for CN.

Any one care to enlighten why HK < JP in CN routes?
