  • Unihost You should tell everyone that you are passionate about collecting privacy, otherwise users will not be able to get discounts, free installations of Windows, etc

I just want to buy a cheap small vps, but you asked me to provide all the private information you asked for, such as photos, driver's license, home address, work information, etc. Because I can't trust you not to sell or disclose user privacy

Below is your email requesting privacy

    Hello, *******!

    Thank you for choosing Unihost.

Before processing your order, we need to confirm your identity and payment legitimacy. This process is a standard security measure used globally to prevent fraudulent transactions and ensure secure billing.

You can choose one of the following verification methods:

    1. LinkedIn Profile Verification

You can use this method if you have a LinkedIn profile that (1) is correctly filled out, (2) is visible to all users, (3) confirms the identity and field of activity of the Unihost account owner.

The name, surname, registration email, and country of residence specified in your LinkedIn profile must correspond to the information you provided during registration on our website. If you don’t have a LinkedIn account, follow another procedure instead.

Please login to the website via LinkedIn and then notify us by replying to this email.
After it’s done just wait for the answer from the manager.

    1. ID Verification

Please send us in a reply to this email:

Text: a brief description of your project, including its purpose and the software or platform you intend to use. This helps us understand your hosting needs.

Attachment: a selfie with your passport, driver's license, or any other state-issued document.

Make sure your face and text on the document are clearly visible and readable. You may hide sensitive information, such as your passport number, if desired. Your photo will be securely deleted immediately after approval.

Verification typically takes up to 30 minutes once we receive your documents.
The Legal Department works from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 (GMT +2).

If we do not hear from you within 5 days, your order will be canceled automatically, and a refund will be processed within 5 business days.

If you have any queries regarding verification, kindly respond to this email. We're always glad to help!

    Hello,

Yes, that’s correct - we request KYC verification from some new clients, but only in specific cases.
This applies when we detect that an order was placed using a VPN/proxy and/or the account contains inaccurate or suspicious information.
We have a full verification guide available here: https://unihost.com/help/full-order-verification/
Please note that we do not collect full personal information such as photos, driver’s license, home address, work details, etc.
We only ask for one identity document of your choice - either a passport, national ID, or any other valid proof of identity.
As an alternative, we also offer verification via LinkedIn or phone call.
These measures are in place to prevent potentially malicious users from abusing our services - for example, for spam or other harmful activities.
Once verification is complete, all documents are permanently deleted on our side.

    Unfortunately, no.

  • we request KYC verification

Hosting providers have dealt with fraud and abuse for decades without putting customers at risk. Given the frequency of KYC data being leaked, it's a very customer hostile and off-putting practice Unihost is opting for. We'll never risk being customers, that's for sure.

Please note that KYC verification is a standard practice among many hosting providers, especially when it comes to preventing high-risk or abusive projects from entering the platform.

Our goal is not to inconvenience customers, but rather to ensure a safer and more stable hosting environment for everyone.
Importantly, we do not store any KYC-related data. All submitted information is securely deleted immediately after verification.
We understand that privacy is critical, and we’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of data protection and service integrity.

This all about reselling. Do you re-sell a piece/product at a lower price that you bought? Is up to customers/clients if they want to buy...

There has been a serious misunderstanding.
We recently identified several fraudulent websites that were illegally using our brand and violating our intellectual property rights. In response, we submitted a formal complaint to Cloudflare, requesting action against those specific domains.
However, Cloudflare made a critical error and mistakenly blocked our legitimate domain instead of the infringing ones. As a result, the main page of our website became temporarily inaccessible, even though all other sections — including user dashboards — remained fully functional.
We’ve now migrated to a different CDN provider to prevent similar incidents in the future. Full access will be restored shortly, once DNS propagation is complete.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

It also serves as proof that we’ve been in the web hosting industry for a long time - and this was a truly outrageous mistake on Cloudflare’s part
