Where can FOSS projects request mirrors?

I was recently lucky enough to receive a VPS from FOSSVPS (thanks @no_oles <3) and am now using it to host a software mirror for a project I knew about since earlier needed another mirror for the compilation process.

Now this got me wondering if I had not known about this project since earlier how would I have known that it needed support? I wouldn't. There for I am seeking some community project where other FOSS projects/developers can request/ask nicely for help from the community with hosting binary blobs/source code/releases. While there are big websites like Github that can be used for these proposes, I think that a healthy FOSS project needs decentralization and distribution of network load. In the same sense that most Linux distributions have mirrors and torrents for their ISOs.

Does such a thing I am seeking exist? I would simply want to help some more projects with mirrors now :-)

Happy to help, especially for a privacy focused project or project available over I2P, Tor and/or Yggdrasil networks.
