OVH Cloud | Important - Anti-DDoS Permanent Mitigation - End of Life (EOL)
Just received email regarding the EOL Anti-DDoS Permanent Mitigation
Dear Customer,
We'd like to inform you that the 'Anti-DDoS Permanent Scrubbing Centre' (formerly 'Permanent Mitigation'), enabled on some of your public IPs, is nearing its End of Life and will be disabled on 8 September 2025.
All IPs with this option enabled will be automatically migrated during the week of 15-18 September (week 38).
Thanks to our latest anti-DDoS infrastructure updates, the previous 'Permanent Mitigation' feature is now integrated at the network edge (for users with Edge Network Firewalls), rendering the standalone option obsolete. This crucial step will allow us to offer you enhanced protection in the future.
Do I need to do anything?
No, OVHcloud will handle the automatic migration of all your IP addresses with the utmost care. This will involve switching from 'Permanent Scrubbing Centre' to 'Automatic Scrubbing Centre' mode, and enabling Edge Network Firewall for affected IP addresses.
However, if you prefer a controlled migration affecting only specific IP addresses during planned maintenance, we recommend manually migrating no later than 8 September 2025. Any IP addresses switched to automatic mode prior to that date are excluded from the automatic migration process.
For a manual migration:
• Go to Control Panel, Network, Public IP addresses
• Select IP, go to menu (on the right) and:
o Select 'Scrubbing Centre: automatic' and confirm. This option will disable 'Permanent mitigation'.
o Select 'Create Firewall' and confirm (if available). This option will create an Edge Network Firewall instance (if one doesn't already exist).
o Select 'Enable Edge Network Firewall' and confirm. This will enable the Edge Network Firewall.
o Optional - You can go to 'Edge Network Firewall configuration' and review or add firewall rules to allow or block a specific type of network traffic. For more details on this step, please refer to this guide.
Key dates:
• Service suspension: 8 Sept. 2025 (configuration changes frozen: API and Control Panel)
• Automatic configuration migration: 15-18 September 2025 (for all your IP addresses with option "permanent")
• Service termination: 22 September 2025 (API and Control Panel no longer available)
