[Help] VMWare ESXi VMs Auto Backup to Cloud Storage

IIMKIIVGIIMKIIVG Member

Hello,

Never lost any data in first 8 years of me using servers without any backup tbh. And 2 ssd drives got failed in last 4 months.

After 2 recent ssd drive failures, I lost some huge data and I am now spending my time working on backup data.

I need expert opinion about how can I backup my esxi vms to cloud storage daily?
Veeam looks perfect but the problem is, Veeam doesn't backup directly to cloud storage or hetzner storage box. If that's the case then suggest me a veeam compatible object storage.

Thank you

"8 years with no backup" okay bro

  • You can create a small VPS with ESXi installed (nested virtualization). Then, mount your Hetzner Storage Box as NFS inside that ESXi VPS.

After that use Veeam to back up or replicate your production VMs to this ESXi VPS. Veeam will see the Storage Box (mounted as NFS) as a local datastore for backups.

This scenario will help you to save as veeam backup or you can even replicate your VMs... :)
