Very happy with the Chimera VPS so far, can hit full gigabit speeds to my home connection:
Quick YABS:
try running iperf client from your home connection and see what speeds you get because you'll most likely going through cogent instead of beanfield.
would just adding the -R switch to iperf3 do the same thing ?
iperf3 -c x.x.x.x -Rbut my home connections upload speed is much lower than download
-R tests download speed. since you omit -R when running from vps you're testing upload speed. So use -R when running from your home connection because you want to test the same direction (speed from vps to your home). the x.x.x.x would be your vps ip instead.
@artxs
In the interest of completeness, here are three iperf3 runs, once with my client uploading and twice downloading for a total two each including my first post:
x.x.x.x - home IP
y.y.y.y. - VPS IP
This is on a multi-gig connection; the limiting factor on my end is the 2.5 Gbps switch and indeed the VPS' 1 Gbps limit.
It seems that the VPS has an uncongested line when it comes to the server's download speeds, but the server's upload speeds are much more inconsistent.
Fortunately, my use case relies much more on fast upload to the server as compared to fast download (NAS backups; hopefully the need to retrieve data does not occur often!), so it's okay for now, but the download speeds are pretty abysmal at times to my home connection.
Is there a YABS test for KVM Slim Slice?
Do you have other vps to compare ?
there ya go. my only other iperf3 suggestion is to run some parallel connections with -P. Some VPS limit the per connection speed.
iperf3 -R -c y.y.y.y -p 5201 -P4prolly everyone who recently bought a storage vps from Servarica is xferring a boatload of data. Things could settle down after a bit and improve even more.
I compared it to an Oracle Cloud box with access to a 4 Gbps link, looks like there's something snagging the speed on the client download from the server part; full speed on uploading to the server. When testing between the Oracle Cloud box and Servarica, it's full speed uploading from the OC box and around 800 Mbps the other way around.
Not 100% sure what's happening - not really an expert in this sort of thing.
Thanks for testing, at least we have a comparison to confirm.
nice, I like this~
just making sure, the late delivery means the billing is from the delivery not order?
You get full 1gps speed when the client is running from the vps (egress), so the congested line is only when you connect to the vps (ingress), which is using cogent instead of beanfield. This is what I experienced with my dedicated server there as well. I find that yabs/speedtest running on the server isn't a reliable indicator of network performance since providers often have different upstreams for ingress/egress.
wait, so it like the packets drop breadcrumbs on the way out so they can trace the same way back
gotta admit my understanding is very limited . so I found this

servaRICA's network is a bit curious, they don't have RPKI/valid ROAs for any of their announcements, not even IPv6:
https://bgp.tools/as/26832#prefixes
I noticed too one of the cheap VPS's I got is in a range single homed to Cogent, 149.5.244.0/22
https://bgp.tools/prefix/149.5.244.0/22#connectivity, not also upstreamed by Beanfield like most of their other IPs. A Cost saving measure? hmm
yes , the next billing date is 1 month after the delivery date
We use both uplinks for upload and download
But this is BGP so the packets will take shortest path
on upload from server it seems beanfield presented the shortest path , on download cogent presented the shortest path
in some cases when there is issue with one uplink we choose where the outgoing packets from our network goes but we cannot control which path incoming packet will take
cogent is everywhere and peering in alot of places which make them alot of times the shortest path
this is BGP protocol and in BGP there is no relation between both directions
in same tcp session you can have packets on same direction change path if the cost changed mid session
Delivery within 24 hours for a $5/mth service - thankyou @servarica_hani
@servarica_hani
Got the server
KVM Slim Slice 2
order #1523649347
Please double my bandwidth
Hey guys, when did they have a doubling of bandwidth event?
They did not have doubling bandwidth event..
I ordered a kvm slim slice 16 which will arrive on the 27th. I seem impatient but if I may ask, is there a definite time when the order will arrive?
me too. bought a KVM FAT Slice 2 on June 22nd. still waiting for the delivery
Me too, my recently order in 25th, but it seems they are preparing for a lot of orders. Earlier, I placed an order and it was delivered in under 24 hours.
If i order KVM Slim Slice 4 now, snd later i want to upgrade to kvm slim sluce 8 , then upgrade is possible without data loss?
Those waiting days, to deliver the servers are conded?
opened a ticket and they said the new arrival date will be july 1st. canceled and got a refund
7th july
