No. They are not good.
Contabo is undoubtedly the best provider in the industry. Don't listen to the critics; no one offers a better CPU steal than Contabo's.
(Just kidding, avoid them at all costs.)
It's 2025 why is anyone still using contabo
What amazes me is that people don't do their homework and thoroughly research the provider before signing up. Otherwise, they would realize that they are a complete disaster.
price, also a lot of low end users like living on the edge
There are several providers offering comparable pricing but significantly better performance and reliability. Therefore, I don't see any reason to use Contabo these days.

Only if there was a search function in this forum...
My answer, based on concrete and long experience, is more differentiated than simply saying "no" (probably not herd-like by coincidence ...).
First: I can understand a rather negative position re Contabo VPS because not only are quite a few locations really mediocre and of questionable bang per buck value, but Contabo sadly also uses a "drop an offer and then walk away" practice here on LET.
But that said, they also do have at least one location with good to very good bang per buck ratio, as I demonstrated in my "bestest" shootout, where one - of my three - Contabo VPSs, the german (Contabos home country) one, actually managed to get into the top-3 list.
The other two locations I have (St. Louis and SGP) however still (not yet upgraded) deserve criticism and have a bad bang per buck ratio.
TL;DR: strongly depends on location. In their german DCs chances are good that one can get a really attractive VPS with plenty traffic volume on top (but, warning, limited bandwidth). In all their other locations however Contabo VPS to the best of my knowledge are not advisable.
They work the best job at. . . . Overselling & Stealing CPU.
The small prices are NOT guaranteed.
Before you pay, Contabo tells you that you can enjoy the service with such a small price, lifetime, as long as you keep using it.
After you pay, sooner or later Contabo tells you that unfortunately the price needs to be raised.

contabo down and down like a sledgehammer
if you are looking to buy and not use it. yes.
I have tried Contabo several times over the years, and the truth is, it's so bad that I wouldn't buy it even for idling now
depends on the usage I believe, some people use it for light work, some people use it for heavy work.
You won't know until you try it yourself.

That location does not really exist anymore, they are moving all ze German ones to their Europe hub on the French side of the border between France and Germany. Good old Munich and Nuremberg times are gone.
And the Europe hub is a lot worse than their old german locations.
We have rented a server from them for about 6 years now. Been good to us. One thing that is a bit different there is their billing system, it's not a WHMCS backend. Our rep Michael is always attentive.
That may or may not be the case, I don't know nor, frankly, care a whole lot. What I do care about is that my german (or, if you like, my "german") Contabo VPS is doing very fine, is really fast (modulo the bandwidth limit), and really good value for the few bucks it costs..
And I do care about my VPS in St. Louis and SGP sadly being quite mediocre (and I would not recommend them).#
This is the answer.
