[Scammer] SBK-Enterprise.com / Sijmen Klaas Bakker - Simon Bakker (960€)

Hi everyone,

We’d like to share a very disappointing and frustrating experience we had with SKB-Enterprise.com (also known as SKB Enterprise B.V) and specifically with Simon Bakker (Sijmen Klaas Bakker).

We initially got in touch with Simon through eBay ( https://www.ebay.fr/usr/simonbakker ) regarding a group buy of Supermicro chassis servers with Ryzen 5 3600 CPUs. Everything seemed fine at first.

However, Simon quickly asked us (and the main group buyer) to move the transaction off eBay and instead pay through a Stripe link he provided >:) .

In hindsight, that was our first big mistake... but we went along with it.

The servers (3 servers for 900€ on our side + 60€ of shipping fees) were delivered without issue to our datacenter. We left them in their original packaging in stock until we had time to go on-site and set them up. That’s when the problems began.

When we powered them on (with no changes or upgrades made), none of the servers would boot:

  • Two of them were completely stuck on the ASRock motherboard splash screen.
  • The third one didn’t even manage to reach the motherboard screen.

We contacted Simon and described the issue. He suggested a few basic troubleshooting steps (CMOS battery removal, etc.), which we tried. We made a second trip to the datacenter and spent hours trying to debug: changed RAM, tested with different modules, stripped all peripherals absolutely no change. These servers are entirely non-functional.

We sent Simon videos and photos of all our troubleshooting steps. After that, he stopped responding entirely. We then formally requested a return and refund, since the hardware was clearly dead. Simon refused and stated that he doesn’t accept returns (strange no?).

Worse still, we’re not the only victims. Other participants in the same group buy also reported receiving defective servers, with several still trying to get them working.

Simon claimed in his last response that all servers were tested before shipping, but we find that highly unlikely.

Since then, we’ve reached out to him via email, LinkedIn, and every other possible contact method and we’ve received no response at all.

(funny thing) We also came across this disturbing page regarding Simon Bakker, which we found after the fact:
https://www.indymedia.nl/node/48727

We are still waiting for a resolution. But after multiple messages and zero support, it’s clear that Simon is ignoring us and has no intention of honoring any kind of after-sales responsibility.

TL;DR:
Avoid doing business with SKB-Enterprise.com / SKB Enterprise B.V. / Simon Bakker.
We got completely scammed, received non-functional servers, no refund, no return accepted, no support, and were ghosted.

If anyone else has had experiences with this vendor (positive or negative), feel free to share them. Hopefully this post will prevent others from falling into the same trap.

Stay safe.

    1. You willingly moved off of ebay for payments.
    2. Did not test hardware right away after arrival.

Sorry that happened, lots to learn.

You're right, Rubben. This is the first time we've bought servers this way... we've learned.

Here's a concise summary of the article in bullet points:

    • SBK-Enterprise.com scam: Simon Bakker (Sijmen Klaas Bakker) defrauded customers of €960 for defective server hardware

    • Initial contact: Customers found Bakker through eBay for Supermicro chassis servers with Ryzen 5 3600 CPUs

    • Payment redirect: Bakker moved transaction off eBay to Stripe payment link (red flag)

    • Purchase details: Three servers bought for €900 plus €60 shipping, initially delivered without issues

    • Complete hardware failure: All three servers failed when tested - two stuck on motherboard splash screen, one couldn't boot at all

    • Extensive troubleshooting: Customers tried CMOS battery removal, RAM replacement, peripheral stripping - nothing worked

    • Vendor abandonment: Bakker initially suggested basic fixes, then completely stopped resonding to all communications

    • No refund policy: Bakker refused returns and stated he doesn't accept them despite clearly defective hardware

    • Pattern of behavior: Other group buy participants also received defective servers

    • Complete ghosting: Bakker ignored emails, LinkedIn messages, and all contact attempts

    • Warning issued: Customers strongly advise avoiding SKB-Enterprise.com, SKB Enterprise B.V, and Simon Bakker

    • Buyer protection lesson: Case highlights risks of moving transactions off platforms like eBay that offer buyer protections

Was going to suggest the same - good thing its on a card and it wasn't a bank transfer or something. Just chargeback, you have a lot of evidence.

It's kind of interesting how all the stuff is non-functional. Does he have access to and resell some broken "RMA" units?

Given the number of defective servers in the total batch of servers (there are 19 servers in total and more than half would be defective, tests are underway)

These were old servers used on phanes.cloud & SKB Enterprise, he has to sort them out like that... But since he's selling everything, maybe he's just exiting.

  • I saw a few of these listed on eBay. I just figured they were cheap because of the marks all over most of the chassis but I was considering buying one. I later learned they had dissolved SKB Enterprise.

No wonder they were so cheap.

Yep... we should have been wary of this "nice offer".

  • Hi Maxence,

Let me clarify the situation one last time.

    1. You contacted me many weeks after delivery. In any B2B transaction, it’s your responsibility to test hardware immediately. Delayed reporting limits support options.

    2. All servers were tested and working before shipment. BIOS screenshots were included. You confirmed the shipment arrived in good condition.

    3. I suggested Stripe to avoid eBay’s excessive fees. This was transparent and had nothing to do with bad intentions. Stripe is secure and traceable.

    4. This was a B2B sale. No warranty. No returns. No right of withdrawal. All clearly stated and agreed upon.

    5. I’ve sold hundreds of identical servers. No complaints. I use them myself. If your units don’t boot, it’s most likely due to incorrect handling or storage on your end. You didn’t test them in time.

    6. You received multiple clear replies. The endless back-and-forth, even on a local second-hand furniture marketplace brought nothing new, so I stopped responding.

    7. Your claim about other faulty servers is false. That group order was with another buyer. We haven’t received a single complaint from them.

    8. You bought way below market price.

    9. Using AI to distort my portrait and turn this into a joke is childish and pathetic. It kills any credibility you had. Dragging in old, baseless claims from left-wing extremists with an agenda has zero relevance here. This isn’t a political debate, it’s a technical issue. You’re crossing a line, and it reflects more on your character than mine.

If you feel scammed, I’m sorry to hear that, but that’s your emotional response. I conducted this sale in good faith, with full transparency.

    1. A seller offering to sell an item outside of eBay is against eBay's policy.

    2. While it does avoid a lot of fees, it will always appear 'scammy' when a seller asks you to pay off platform. This is because the buyer usually loses any ability to dispute and or recover their funds.

    3. If you combine the above with defective servers when tested, even if late, it doesn't look great for you.

    4. If the sale had been completed on eBay, the buyer would still have recourse.

    5. Even if you have great feedback on eBay, it doesn't rule out selective scamming. Why did you therefore choose to sell this differently?

    6. You would need a contract that confirms it was a B2B sale without VAT and that the terms were agreed on.

File a chargeback though your bank against the Stripe transaction. Even if you have to return the servers at cost, you will almost certainly win.

    Hi Simon,

Nice try with your response, but unfortunately, it's not that simple, and you know that perfectly well.

We're growing more confident, especially after discussing with several people, that you're simply a liar and, quite frankly, a scammer when we look at your track record.

    1. What “limited support options” are you talking about? We received the servers at the datacenter, we went there ourselves, tested them, and they don’t even power on. What more are we supposed to do, Simon? Next time, should we ask DHL to unpack and test the servers for us to speed things up?

    2. We seriously doubt the servers were tested at all. Several people (including us) tried every kind of troubleshooting. One of the servers, as we've already said, doesn’t even display a single frame from the motherboard. What screenshots are you referring to? Btw, in which email did we supposedly confirm that “the shipment arrived in good condition”?

3/4. No warranty / No returns / No right of withdrawal, on what basis? Where was this mentioned? We were never made aware of any such "terms" you’re now suddenly referencing.

    1. To confirm again: we unpacked the servers, installed them in the rack and none of them work, Simon.

    2. Simon, if you allow us, we can share the full conversation history here. The only "solution" you gave us was: “remove the CMOS battery and wait one minute.” Thank you so much for that brilliant piece of advice! (And you also mentioned technicians who could assist us.... We’re still waiting for them with open arms)

    3. It’s unfortunate, Simon, because we’re in regular contact with the main buyer of these servers. We won’t speak on their behalf, but we can confirm that our servers aren’t the only ones with serious issues.

    4. So what? Does that justify scamming people? Does that give you the right to rip people off?

    5. We’re not trying to build credibility here, Simon, because frankly, in your case, that’s already a lost cause. With just one thread, we’ve learned a lot about you, and now we know this isn’t your first time doing this.

Simon (Sijmen Klaas Bakker), do you seriously think shutting down SKB and rebranding under GM Technologies B.V. (https://gm-technologies.eu) while leaving a trail of victims behind will just erase everything?

    In summary:

You scam people through a company you're planning to shut down, by selling non-functional servers and then you tell us we got a good price, so it's normal. Period.

  • jure12jure12 Member

@OpMons you should never have agreed to a purchase without ebay.
Personally, when I buy something through eBay and the seller wants to do "business" outside of eBay, I'm immediately suspicious and stop cooperating.

He wants to "fish" for buyers on ebay and complete the business without ebay. Something stinks!
