Hi !
WHMCS officially discontinued the Starter license as of January 1st, 2025.
All existing Starter license holders were automatically migrated to the Plus plan.
Starter still exists. It's the same as Plus, but with a hard-coded branding link. However, it's intended to be bundled and resold by resellers rather than sold direct, but you can purchase it through CPLicense.net or similar.
yes, that's why my doubt was born, because I have a starter license and other friends have told me that today they have migrated them to plus, and I checked the web and starter no longer appeared.
what about licenses sold through resellers?
I'm not sure who "they" are, but WHMCS has not directly sold the Starter license since 2021, when WebPros mandated the upgrade of all direct Starter licenses to Plus.
WHMCS license resellers can still bundle and resell WHMCS Starter, at least for now, and I'm not aware of any current or impending changes to this policy. Further, WebPros forcing their WHMCS license resellers - who are often bundling Starter with shared hosting reseller plans - to upgrade to Plus would mark another notch in the death post for WHMCS' brand and reputation, so I doubt they'd consider doing that.
I was also surprised to see WHMCS Starter vanish from their main site. Seems like they’re pushing everyone to Plus unless you go through resellers like CPLicense. Honestly, bundling through resellers feels like the last lifeline for Starter users. With all the recent license shifts, it makes me wonder how long until WHMCS phases it out completely for everyone.
