Good shit, i acutally use the free plan for geoblocking some services
Guess should switch to free unlimited plan as the only data i grab is country anyways

Awesome! Nothing needs to be changed except for updating the URL and noting the API response schema. If you want use the IPinfo Lite DB as well.

We are a very small team responsible for managing a server pool that requires an overwhelming effort just to keep it alive. We are considering ways we can use our Probenet beyond internet measurements, but the reality is that introducing new features creates a layer of maintenance that we are not ready to address at this moment.

I'm not sure what your Probenet is doing exactly but maybe you could open source it and put for others to host. I think it could help you managing servers since that part would be outsourced to the community.

Many people in here have idlers and we would be happy to host probe for you.

Something similar to what RIPE ATLAS and Globalping has with their credits like others suggested.

Too late, thousands of nws.sh benchmarks are being scheduled with new API used /s

Ha ha awesome. The API is being reengineering to support trillions of reqeusts ... per day.

Let me know when you are done integrating. I will add your logo in the open source projects section: https://ipinfo.io/lite

    Thanks!

I'll take a closer look this weekend!
    Thanks for sharing this.

@Operable4829 Can you make the homepage show the information for my connecting IP again?

We are still working on it. Sorry. This is a very common request, and we are trying our best to make some improvements with our homepage.

Waiting eagerly for this, missing it very badly!

How can I get the correct info into this? It's just showing country for me, not anywhere closer. Ignore me, being retarded

Awesome change! Thank you IPinfo @Operable4829 for this!

If I may suggest: add the ASN Type information too in results.

That is a great suggestion, something we have also thought about.

We actually have a selection process for probe servers. We host servers that meet certain attributes when it comes to the ASN and where they are based. We look at RTT measurements for ASN and the exoticness of locations.

So, when you meet the criteria, we will pay you monthly. That's it. No need to overcomplicate things with credit systems, or anything else.

If you have a spare laptop or a raspberry pi, we can experiment with it. We have not tried it before. We need root level acess to the device, it needs to be connected to the internet 24X7. I am not sure if a residential internet connection would work for us because we do run a lot of ICMP pings, but if you are an ISP or have commercial internet access, we can experiment with it.

If you are interested, just drop your IPs in the form: https://forms.gle/kNYr2MBL8zRPgNrJ8

In the "additional comment" section mention something like crowdsource and your username here at LET. (I maybe a bit slow to respond though, I apologize in advance).

I wish we could, but it is part of our paid tier data. I am sorry. We actually run a ton of analysis to generate the ASN type information. We look at range classification and build that up to ASN classification.

If it is possible, consider buying the Core API tier. We actually have a campaign running that gives 50% off (50MAY2025)

I think it is just something that most people have been asking us to give for a very long time, which is flagging VPN/Proxies and flagging hosting IPs at an affordable tier. Moreover, you get access to the dedicated ASN API.

I think with the voucher, $42 a month (if you pay yearly) for the Core tier. That comes with these API services:

Would be nice to have flag base64 for the country. Neat feature.

I hope you will update your PHP lib to support lite package. Or at least merge pending pulls...

Yeah, same for the javascript/typescript/nodejs library :)

We will incorporate that feature into our official libraries. We typically have a JSON/object/dictionary of flags across all of our libraries.

Yeah, same for the javascript/typescript/nodejs library :)

We are trying. We currently have an integrations engineer role open: https://ipinfo.bamboohr.com/careers/63

I believe their first task would be to review our Open Source projects and create integrations for the lite API service across all our libraries. They could also potentially add native data download features to each library.

If you have nearly 1000 server, can you run RIPE ATLAS or/and Globalping on them?
In this way, you will help the community while also earning credits (in the case of RIPE ATLAS).

Maybe you can somehow implement the use of these credits in RIPE ATLAS, e.g. in places where it is hard to find a VPS server or by using the ASN you want.
Such RIPE ATLAS does not need many resources, 32 MB of RAM is enough.

I hope one of those logos looks familiar to you! Cheers, friend!
