vpnsecure.me canceling lifetime plans

Just wanting to let you know that you should avoid lifetime deals, especially from vpn providers. I got this email today:

Dear XXXXXXXXXXX
We hope this message finds you well.

We’re reaching out today with transparency, respect, and a sincere ask 👉 for your understanding.

Two years ago, in May 2023, our team acquired VPN Secure, including the technology, domain, and customer database — but not the liabilities.

Unfortunately, the previous owner did not disclose that thousands of Lifetime Deals (LTDs) had been sold through platforms like StackSocial.

We discovered this only months later — when a large portion of our resources were strained by these LTD accounts and high support volume from users who, though part of the database, provided no sustaining income to help us improve and maintain the service.

To protect server stability and support our active user base, we began deactivating accounts that had been dormant for over 6 months. While technically fair, this decision triggered a wave of negative reviews, impacting our reputation and the experience of everyone — both free and paying users.

Despite this, many of you showed us grace. We still remember a message from a user that truly resonated:

"I understand 'lifetime' to mean the life of the seller. When the company was sold, their lifetime ended. This has happened before with companies like Geni.com, whose lifetime plans were converted to 5-year subscriptions after acquisition."

 We’ve taken that to heart.

 🔔 What’s Changing Now
To continue providing a secure and high-quality experience for all users, all Lifetime Deal accounts have now been deactivated as of April 28th, 2025.

This was not a decision made lightly — but one made with the future of VPN Secure and all its users in mind.

🎁 Exclusive Renewal Offer for Lifetime Users
As a thank you for being part of our story, we’re offering you — and only LTD users — this one-time exclusive deal:

 ✅ $55 for 3 years

✅ $19 for 1 year

✅ $1.87/month (billed annually)

These rates are only available until May 31, 2025.

⚙️ What’s New at VPN Secure
In the last 24 months, we’ve been hard at work — here’s what’s new:

🔐 Wireguard Support (faster + more efficient than OpenVPN)

🛡️ Special Wireguard Edition designed to bypass advanced Deep Packet Inspection

📱 Updated iOS App with improved speed, reliability, and user interface

We genuinely want to avoid adding any frustration to your inbox or VPN experience. If you’ve enjoyed using VPN Secure, we’d love to have you with us for the next chapter.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any questions, concerns, or even just thoughts to share — please hit reply. We’re listening.

 Warmly,
The VPN Secure Team

Only 'lifetime' vpn deals from stacksocial that still work and still being honored is keepsolid vpnunlimited and windscribe. All others goes to shit, wasting money.

No idea who this provider is as I don't use VPNs, but definitely I think their action doesn't deserve any love or respect.

Maybe if they'd given active users some warning, but e-mailing people on the 30th (according to the OP) to say they already cancelled all services on the 28th and demanding payment to continue using the services deserves treating them with the same level of respect they're treating their customers with.

If they'd e-mailed people giving a month or two warning, then people would have thought it sucked, but would have had a chance to make an informed decision. If they discovered this "only months later" after the May 2023 acquisition, they had plenty of opportunity to let their customer base know.

Some people might even have been reliant on the service to achieve things like buying a new service from the same supplier. They literally have no respect for their customers, even though that's what they're demanding from them.

I did. Just logged in, no account anymore! Never used them before, either. Kept them in case they ever became anything.

Their promo absolutely sucks, for $2/month /w a longer contract you can get service from any major provider with thousands of servers... They only have a few dozen 😆

I'm using mostly ssh tunnels instead of a vpn and most of the providers don't offer those.

Looked at this one, didn't get it since I think it overlapped in servers with another VPN or something else made me avoid it.
My other VPN's are still going :) even Ivacy (now PureVPN), I wonder if I can extend it again in 1600days

Pay only by month. Stop supporting lifetime deals.
I'm against yearly plans too, only exception i make is with providers that have own hardware-dc, not resellers.

Did you contact them or anything? Like many others, mine is 5 years & I am supposed to contact them before expire date. I have doubt about PureVPN honoring the offer.

I got in touch with them, yet I have 5 years also. I think they rely on ppl who are not using service will forget to renew. But I've already set a calendar reminder for 2028...

Since I received vpnsecure.me as a gift (which I have never used), I informed the person who gifted it to me. He contacted StackSocial and received a full refund to his Stacksocial account. So all who bought it from Stacksocial, write them an email.

    Hi again XXXXXXXXX,

    Thank you for sending that.

Unfortunately, a cash refund is no longer an option as this transaction is now past the time frame allowed by the payment processor. We are very sorry about this.
We have issued a full store credit refund of $12 to your StackSocial account, same amount you paid for this purchase.
Again, we are so sorry for any inconvenience.

Have a good day and take care.

    Sincerely,
    XXXXXXXXX

Wow so much for lifetime. Before signing we must look at the fine print for specific terms and conditions.

There are plenty of honest companies out there. Windscribe, for example.

I don't think there was any fine print here - they are just using BS to make a decision and hoping no one sues. If you look at their business it's not going very well.

I guess Celo.net Australian Based VPN Provider also use to sell life time option before ? I’m using it a bit,
but I found they don’t have any own server, all the servers belongs to different company’s , at least hope they really don’t keep any logs.

Get a small vps and host a vpn yourself. Or get adguard vpn, they have many cheap deals. Dont buy from an unknown provider.
