MassiveGRID 4 years VPS Review

So I bought their low cost vps for 4 years, and paid $23 for it.
Server is slow and network is slow as well. That's fine comparing the price we paid.

The concern is, Is it possible that company could last for next 4 years or not?

:D :D That sounds more like I need lottery type of luck to keep my massivegrid server alive and active for next 4 years.

No disrespect though, The price wise it's good server to keep for that long.

They sell ultra cheap VPS to justify keeping the IPv4 subnets.
As soon as there's a buyer for the IPv4 subnets, they will deadpool with no regards to whoever bought the VPS.

That explains my two week 80% CPU steal streak . Seriously, dont trust MassiveSHIT. Support wanted to force me to pay more money to get the CPU steal problem solved. Had my mail relay running on one of their shitboxes (i send ~5 mails per year to myself). Glad I migrated

Why do you call that a review? That is not a review but just yadda yadda (although justified).

  • The VPS is slow but the network for my VPS is great.

Why did you cancelled though. Did they issued refund?
If not then keep it for some testing purposes. It's good for testing

They did for one server, the other I issued a case with PayPal.

I have too many servers now, most idle. Gotta spin up some projects.

  • For me the IOWait has been horrible. SSH into the server and some commands your waiting 5-10 seconds for. Recently that went well down and running at pretty normal and expected speeds. Was working on it for a few hours updating/migrating stuff yesterday and I had no complains in performance.
Network I never had issues with but not everyone is as lucky. Definitely oversold, but depending on your use it'll work. Im using mine as a socks/https proxy with zerotier for invidious. I never had any problems doing this.

For me socks/https proxy doesn't work either on this vps.
Because of network is so slow.

I thought this was a review after using the VPS for 4 years.

    Carry on.

    Stop lying to people lol.
Paid for 7 VPS with them (different locations), and cannot use any one of them.
They are so bad, that your SSH hangs, running "apt update" will take your couple of hours (if it can finish lol).

Don't even get me started on their Control Panel.
To re-format any of it's VPS (with their templates OS) it takes over 20 minutes to find the option and have to go through lots of schenanigans to just click re-format.
And after 1 hour re-formatted VPS will never boot normally (Ubuntu 20, 22, idk if it had 24). So, had to raise support tickets.

VPS from this provider is one of the worst I have ever bought over LET. Only thing good about this provider is, they respond to support tickets.

You can have a shortened review after ~ 7 Months tl;dr edition:

    • VPS ran fine for like three weeks
    • After that I guess the node was oversold, IO wait and CPU steal problems started to appear
    • I did not care for the next four months, as I've used this VPS to send like 5 mails to myself
    • Since one month the VPS has daily outages. ~ 60-180 mins of downtime every day
    • Had two weeks of avrage 77% CPU steal
    • Support told me that my half full RAM is causing performance issues
    • Support told me that 77% average CPU steal is normal
    • Support offered me a RAM upgrade
    • Support offered me to migrate from a VPS to a VDS (for extra money, ofc)
    • I insulted the support (No regrets and I am proud)
    • I insulted the support even more
    • I bought a new VPS for my 5 mails per year
    • One last insult to the support

Well, I cancelled my servers with them too after things kept going downhill - got a refund after quite some discussion. Normally I keep VPSes, yes, but these were not even usuable for testing purposes. No performance, hardly any connectivity, and too many times just went down.

  • Many review similar to this for MassiveGrid.

I don’t renew hosts like this. Never tried this host myself.

At first I thought the same.
But it suits me when I wants to test some 3rd party software or do some experiments.

I agree with you that it's unusable some times actually most of the times though.

Deluxhost is much better. $7 annually and it's 100% up for me. Using since 1 month.

I have 2 but I only paid for a year each, there's no way this runs for 4. There have been some super annoying issues but the worst ones (UDP fail) cleared up eventually and they're still ok for some uses.

You all should definitely cancel immediately though.

Its cheap ipv4 with free vps as bonus.

In the time I was using it it was one drama after another. No 2 days in a row without serious outage time on at least one of the locations and if it was "available" I had severe packet loss (i.e. on every location I couldn't maintain a SSH session for over 10 minutes)

Deluxhost is much better. $7 annually and it's 100% up for me. Using since 1 month.

Yeah, I'm "lucky" to be on a problem-host that has hardware failure again. So I'm in a 14 hour downtime stage there...

Also networkwise I'm encountering IPv6 issues with certain routes/interconnects since the beginning and they can't find a solution for it... But it's still tons of times better as MassiveGrid.

maybe I've just been lucky but I'm running a tor bridge in their NY location and it's been pretty decent. No unexpected downtime or outages or anything. 99.68% uptime the last 30 days. I do about 1.5tb transfer a month on the 4gb ram $50/4 years plan

    That's very rare.
Their network ping loss ratio for me is around 20% average.

now its work good but before I have 3 weeks fkn lost udp packets and lost dns requests via tcp
and some time vps overload 100 from another vps on host

  • TripleflixTripleflix Member
