Public Warning: ClawCloud's Draconian & Undisclosed Bandwidth Throttling - Buyer Beware

Hello Lowendtalk Community,

Warning regarding ClawCloud (Singapore provider): Reports and testing confirm they've implemented severe, undisclosed bandwidth throttling based on sustained usage, degrading service and user trust. This is corroborated by discussions on forums like Nodeseek.

The Core Issue: Aggressive & Unreasonable Throttling

ClawCloud throttles connections for sustained usage at surprisingly low levels, far below reasonable 'abuse' thresholds for VDS:

  • Trigger/Impact: Sustained speeds as low as 10-50 Mbps for ~1 hour can trigger severe throttling (down to 1 Mbps in some cases), crippling downloads and streaming (especially Emby).
  • Duration/Universality: This limit lasts ~2 hours and affects all users/IPs (47.*, 8.*, etc.). Ignore claims of 'non-throttled' machines – the policy applies if usage triggers it.

Verification Method - Check Your Own Service

Verify this on your own ClawCloud server using iperf3:

  1. Run iperf3 from an external source towards your ClawCloud server IP.
  2. Sustain moderate bandwidth (e.g., 50 Mbps) for over an hour:
    bash # On external machine: iperf3 -c [Your_ClawCloud_Server_IP] -b 50m -t 7200
  3. Monitor for a sharp speed drop around the 60-minute mark.

(Evidence, including bandwidth graphs showing this drop, was shared previously. Links below)

Concerns Regarding ClawCloud's Response

ClawCloud reportedly dismisses complaints by calling legitimate usage (10-50 Mbps sustained) 'abuse'. This is unacceptable victim-blaming for a flawed, undisclosed policy.

Community Impact & Call for Transparency

This has caused frustration elsewhere (e.g., Nodeseek). LET users should be aware.

  • Potential Buyers: Beware – performance under load is misrepresented.
  • Current Users: Test your service if consistent bandwidth matters.
  • ClawCloud: Acknowledge this policy, publish clear rules (triggers, thresholds, duration) in your TOS, and fix these unreasonable thresholds. Transparency and fair resource allocation are essential.

This throttling policy is detrimental and needs immediate clarification and revision from ClawCloud.

Thanks for the suggestion, buddy. I've already made the changes. You should give me a good kick in the butt.

    that's terrible🙃

  • qwwujhqwwujh Member

Yea, they'd post clear rate limitation rules.

  • I'm also one of their users. Right now, I'm suffering from speed limits.

  • @CLAWCLOUD any responses?

  • fengerofengero Member

They won't reply, that's their style of doing things. The only thing we can do is avoid buying their machines.

That's pretty severe throttling over what I'd consider average usage. Provider can obviously sell whatever packages they want to but this stuff should be clearly documented so people don't waste time (and $$).

hold on, please throttle your rage and sync up with your vps.
    @CLAWCLOUD let the PR cook

    Reguards,

  • If you don't need it, you don't buy or renew it.
clawcloud run's products are provided for free for us to experience. If you already have a better alternative, why not just go ahead and purchase that instead?
I've even heard of people maliciously abusing downloads and getting throttled by the provider—why?
It really looks like this person is MJJ, which is the most shameless group of people. They are used to abuse, used to placing orders with fraudulent information, and used to snatching special/preferred models for profit! It's fucking disgusting!

So let me get this straight — according to you, if a provider screws up, we should just shut our mouths, smile, and thank them for it? What a brilliant standard you have: "If it’s cheap or free, abuse is totally acceptable." No wonder some services stay terrible — people like you are too busy licking boots to hold anyone accountable.

I'm not here begging for charity — I'm here demanding basic respect and proper service. Defending my legitimate rights isn’t "abuse," it’s called having a backbone. If standing up for fairness makes you uncomfortable, maybe you should take a good look at yourself and ask why mediocrity seems so acceptable to you.

  • Thanks for sharing, interesting to know.

  • @fengero do you think this rate-limiting is done by alibaba? or claw?

  • lqbzletlqbzlet Member

This provider is just a scammer. Their previous promotions were also maliciously designed to trick users into buying their servers. However, they have many followers who defend their bad behavior.
