Low Cost Ghost Hosting
Hello everyone! I am looking to start a new Ghost blog. As you might know, Ghost CMS cannot run on shared/reseller hosting, so I am looking for cheap VPS that the only function would be to host the Ghost blog. If possible, I don't mind a VPS without any root access or anything, with a pre-installed Ghost CMS and I will use that.
For now, I am still doing a cost research, so send any proposal my way, but my cost is very limited, as it is a new blog.

Ghost on PikaPods from $2.5/month.
It would really help if you try to quantify how much is 'limited'.
Hello,
I can offering something depending on what you want.
Right now I can do this -> https://aspirehosting.net/store/cloud-standard-frankfurt-eu-amd
Or I could offer you something small if you'd like to get started.
2GB DDR4
3vCores
50GB NVMe
EPYC 7551P
Frankfurt, DE
3 USD/mo (or) 30 USD/yr
Dm me for this custom offer, or check our website for standard plans from 4GB Ram size.
Ghost will need about 150mb to 200mb ram to run the app and 500-600mb to run the DB. I host a ghost website today on a VPS along with several other Wordpress sites on the same.
You can get shared but you’ll see performance issues over time as they limit resources further on cheaper plans. VPS has been my best experience because any traffic pickup on ghost will also slow the site down.
For the immediate time, my budget is lower then $20, but I plan to saving up currently, and I am planning to get it before or within June, so my budget might increase by then. But I am looking for anything within the price range.
I only needed 1 vCore and 1GB RAM for now, do you have any lower quote plans and lower pricing?
Totally agreed, which is why I am looking for a VPS. But my budget is low for now, as this is a hobby project and I do not have much money (studying now, just in case anyone wondering).
IPv6 only typically comes with lower pricing.
Readers can reach your website via Cloudflare.
If necessary, you can reach your server via 1.1.1.1 app.
@JstTan please see offers section. Tons of deals within budget for you.
Most of us pay $10-15 a year for a 1gb ram VPS
Well I do not needed much, as long as it can host the Ghost blog, and let it accessible to others. I am fine with it, but I would prefer IPv4 as it is more accessible, but I will still be linking my own domain anyways
Well I prefer VPS hosting that could support hosting Ghost CMS, as I found those VPS hosting is just generic, I am looking for hosting that could let me host Ghost CMS, and by the least know what is it, and potentially assist in setting it up.
Sure, I can do the following:
1GB DDR4
1 vCore
30GB NVMe
2TB BW (1Gbps)
EPYC 7551P
15 USD/yr
Oh okay. Will consider, but I would check out what other can offer before picking the one most suitable for me. Thanks for the offer.
If you're willing to go IPv6 only as @yoursunny mentioned, this is probably the cheapest you can get, while still satisfying your requirements (1 vCore and 1GB RAM): link from @Dasabo
Hi,
look at this: https://www.paolotagliaferri.com/serving-ghost-blog-as-a-static-web-application/
You basically run ghost locally, export a static version of you website with a tool, deploy that to GitHub and serve it via Cloudflare Pages for free.
>
with only ipv6 available -- Install cloudflare tunnel agent on the vps, set up ghost to listen on a localhost only port, then you can expose using cloudflare for ipv4 and ipv6 with cloudflare proxy
I'm unsure of how much storage Ghost would need, however, there are Scaleway Stardust instances with 1vCPU, 1GB of ram, 10GB of SSD and a network of 100Mbp/s for about $0.45/Month, with monthly billing.
In their pricing page it's listed as $0.10, however, this does not account for storage, which is about ~$0.35 for 10GB (Make sure to create the instance with local storage).
I don't think anyone here have a Ghost hosting, especially that you want VPS. It's such a small niche that spending time on creating a platform strictly for this is not worth it... specially when there is "official" Ghost (Pro) and most big players (DigitalOcean for example) have one click installers for that.
Also for 20$ per year it will be [almost, maybe someone likes you] impossible to get managed service - it's not worth anyone time.
then what you want is a managed hosting for ghost with dedicated resources. Minimum $10 a month from ghost.org
I am not looking for a dedicated hosting with a platform for Ghost CMS, I just wanted hosting that can support using that, and wouldn’t be like “We do not allow Ghost CMS here”, “We do not know what is Ghost but probably yes” and other similar responses. I wanted to find hosting that could let me host the Ghost CMS there without issues from the hosting providers.
every provider here will allow ghost hosting as why would they have issue with that..? as most of the VPS's are also used for the same things probably - like self hosting their blogs, apps, instances etc
The only issue is CPU fare share for VPS. But if your blogging and no real core usage, then no issue with almost any host. I only see one host that would snoop your data and give you a hard time.
yes as said above there will be no issues if the blog post has small number of visitors but if it has large number of visitors then he should prob invest more ig..but as he said its a new blog so he can prob host it on any VPS [based on his location preference
]
you can either do this ->https://ghost.org/docs/install/ubuntu/
or for docker ->https://hub.docker.com/_/ghost
Hello, if you choose us, our system admin can help you through the setup - I had asked him if he had experience with GhostCMS and he said he did. However He will be on a holiday between 28th April - 2nd May so if you are interested you may order a service with us accordingly.
I am not looking for IPv6 only, if some hosting can provide IPv4 I also don't mind, as long as my needs and budget can be made.
I also consider that, but I plan to enable newsletter and membership for my blog, which couldn't be done headless.
Well as I mentioned, I prefer hosting that could host Ghost CMS with assurance, or at least wouldn't make it difficult to host it there, such as staff members with minimal knowledge of Ghost CMS or minimally could assist when I install it and nothing else.
Well I am just planning for hosting to do blogging. May I ask what are the hosting that would snoop my data and give me a hard time?
@JstTan you can take vps from him his sys admin can help u
