With a personal Asterisk PBX VoIP Server, you can make very cheap phone calls by integrating the PBX with your choice of a low-cost VoIP provider. For example, integrating with Google Voice will enable free calling to anywhere within the U.S. and Canada.
What's even better is that in Asterisk, extension-to-extension calls are FREE! No matter where in the world you are, as long as you have Internet access. And good sound quality too. You can even enable video calling through Asterisk. I currently use this method to call my parents in China from the U.S., and I don't pay anything.
install ziproxy to proxy mobile browsing and decrease bandwith usage

By professionals, yes. By simple web developers, website administrators and end-users? No, FTP still wins on that round, regardless of plaintext authentication or not.

For choosing a VoIP client, I recommend Zoiper (For: PC Mac Linux, Android, iPhone).
Google? What's that...?
Depends on the specs of the VPS right...?
Anything and everything?
Doesn't it depend on what you want to do with the server?
When its idle and i just want to burn bandwith
wget http://mirror.i3d.net/10000mb.bin
find ways to hide your illegal activities on vps so your vps providers cant see what you are doing..

@Brad ha you genius, it exist providers which give you 1GB HDD so impossible,
It should be burn traffic for a good reason not just random download files.... otherwise my vps would get nullrouted because of DDOS.

You can use FTP with TLS/SSL explicitly.
