[HostBrr] Doubt on StorageBox

Hey! I'm kinda new in this VPS stuff. My Azure trial has gone and searching for budget options I've found HostBrr. I'm satisfied with the service, running currently a budget storage VPS with a 1tb HDD and 1 Xeon E5 core for just 2,50 dollars (which is really nice, specially given that I'm from a poorer country). However, I'm still looking for other options, as I'm running a couple of web apps (cloud general stuff) that would benefit from lower latency accessing files (closed 80, 443 ports aren't an issue as it is only for personal usage).

So, prioritizing HostBrr, I thought in acquire a performance VPS from the same provider and a StorageBox, then connect the later to the VPS, like with a rclone SFTP mount. Would it work ok? The latency between the VPS and the box would be not high, given that both are from the same (?) location/service, right?

Thanks in advance!

  • It should work fine so long as your storagebox and VPS are in the same location (not just from the same host). The USA storagebox is in fiberstate (Utah) and the EU storagebox is in Hetzner (Falkenstein).

Hostbrr also gives 7 day refund policy so you can order both at once and try your setup and confirm if it meets your requirements.

Oh, I didn't know about this 7 day refund policy! 😮

So, instead of waiting next month, I could just ask a refund (within the 7 days ofc) and then start migrating my files, services etc to this other setup?

  • Yes I think so but ask @labze (either PM or open a ticket on hostbrr) to confirm (don't just take my word for it). He responds pretty quickly to tickets.
