Check out @kuroit and @SilverCreek 's basically dedicated lineup

    Both have great modern CPUs

If you need a gpu to make thins 100 times faster go with @crunchbits

    4 slices, 4 Epyc cores:

    ServaRica — $8 / month
    4 Epyc Cores (dedicated)
    16384 MB RAM
    500 GB NVMe
    16384 GB/month bandwidth
    10.0 Gbps port speed
    IPv4 + IPv6
    Hosted in Canada

    8 cores would be $14.

    Thank you.

Over the last year, I jumped from one provider to another to check which ones suits for x265 encoding. In my experience:

    1. Berohost 9950x lineup (In terms of encoding, it has good price to value ratio). $6/month (2 core/6GB RAM/50 GB SSD)

    2. Netcup Root servers. (Don't go for their VPS unless you could find them in Austria). $8.24/month (4 core/8gb ram/ 512 GB SSD)

    3. Computebox launch promo. $4.20/month (3 Core/4 GB RAM/50 GBSSD)

the first two are VDS while the last one has fair share in terms of cpu.

    Note:

    1. Don't go for GPU encoding if you want quality in the output files. CPU encoding will trump GPU encoding.
    2. There are LOTS of Epyc servers. In terms of encoding, Epyc 9634 performance is good. Rest of the lineup was disappointing.

    We can offer
    1 dedicated core 7950X (2 vCPU) with 4gb RAM for $14/m
    Or
    2 dedicated core Gold 6146 (4 vCPU) with 16GB RAM for $16/m

Why should in Austria? If you don't mind.

Austria has better spec in terms of cpu performance.

Germany has better disk speed but weaker cpu performance.

I tried netcup vps and didn't renew while the RS1000 is going strong.

Haven't faced any now. Most modern devices handle it well.

We're running a mixture of EPYC 7402, 7742, and if you win the lottery, Ryzen 7900's.

no no, i'm saying people are switching to AV1 currently, lower cpu usage for transcoding and playing and lower file size. Quality is not great but it's still new so it'll improve with time.

yeah, but old devices do not support or not 100% support it, can't risk it on established site :)

Yes. It is risky at this moment.

I am curious to know the average time it would take to encode a video of approximately 80GB (120 minutes) using one of the CPUs referenced

depends on your settings, better ask chatGPT, because everyone has different settings

    i would say 2+ hours

It'll vary a lot depending upon what format the file is in, your settings and more importantly what colors are prevalent in the video.

Until you try, it is impossible to tell. It can take two hours or it can take two days also.

Wow. That’d be a pretty awesome box indeed.

Also, to the OP, might be worth noting bandwidth requirements. Whether you’re doing large volumes or not. Guessing with a 100GB drive requirement that’s not the case, but in case you are it could become important,

    It IS IMPORTANT.

I had to opt for netcup because I stupidly thought 50 GB storage (berohost) would be enough (it isn't). Now berohost packages are out of stock and for bigger files, I needed another vps.

So OP, go for minimum 100-150 GB. It will save you a lot of inconveniencies long term.
