Cheap LXC container for a simple static website
Hi,
I'm looking for a LXC (or somthing similar) container to host my website. I've seen microlxc, but I don't meet the post/like requirements. Is there a similar service that provides containers like these?
My budget is max. $1/month.
Requirements:
- at least 64mb of ram
- at least 1gb of storage
- a publlic ipv4 and ipv6 addresses (1 of each), can be NAT if the service provides a proxy for port 80/443 for domains
I hope I didn't underestimate the price for that.
Thanks,
m4rek

Are you fine with yearly billing?
Morning,
This is a little more specs then your asking for, and its a vps so you can install what you want, but Racknerd still has their sales going on.
https://www.racknerd.com/NewYear/
vCPU Core
24 GB Pure SSD Storage
1 GB RAM
2000 GB Monthly Transfer
1 Gbps Network Port
Its all of $11.29/Year
Thanks,
Anthony
Yeah, as long as it's less than $10 or $12. Since at that point I could go with a KVM vps from racknerd and others, which seems like an overkill for just a static website.
I've actually seen this offer, but it seems like an overkill, since I don't need to host anything else. But thanks for sharing.
edited the original comment to say at least 1gb of storage as i realized i don't need that much
If it's just a static website have you thought about hosting it with GitHub Pages? Or why not look at shared hosting offers? I don't know of anyone that offers LXC containers that have web proxies though I could be wrong. $1 a month even for an LXC might be hard just because of IP costs.
I would like to learn a bit about how linux works and configure everything myself.
I can give you our smallest KVM plan for $1/m if you'd like to pay /quarter

A said above, Racknerd or RareCloud:
RareCloud — €10.50 / year
1 Intel Cores (shared)
768 MB RAM
15 GB NVMe
1024 GB/month bandwidth
1.0 Gbps port speed
IPv4 + IPv6
Hosted in Netherlands
TBH I would go with BunnyCDN or S3 + Cloudfront and get over with it.
You can always go with Google / Oracle / AWS / Alibaba, Tencent etc free tier for a year and then spam forum forum enough (with questions how to configure, duh) and in 6 months you can move to microLXC :_D

Thanks, I might go with the cheapest poland one from them if i find a way to forward web traffic to the server.
Thanks, I'll think about it if I won't find anything here
Thanks, I'll look into them, but I will still need to find a way to get web ports forwarded.
Do you have an EU location?
To clarify, I don't really want to spend that much at once, max $3/$4. I would also prefer an EU location (Slovakia, Poland, Austria or Czechia would be best, but other EU countries would also be great).
No, sorry we're only in the US
