ClawCloud's Speed Limiting Policy Has Serious Issues

kkbetakkbeta Member

Conclusion first: There's no point in buying ClawCloud's 2TB and above plans.

ClawCloud offers product plans with 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB of monthly traffic, but in practice, it's difficult to fully utilize these plans due to restrictions imposed by the provider:

Test results:

When downloading files via ClawCloud (video files, not malicious iperf3 tests), speeds were throttled to 100Mbit/s at around 40GB and further reduced to 20Mbit/s at around 50GB.
Previously, I didn't download much, and my monthly traffic usage was quite low. But I accidentally discovered that downloading large files smoothly was nearly impossible. No matter how much data is allocated, it just can't be fully utilized.
Final thoughts:
ClawCloud's product configuration is seriously flawed. They sell high-traffic plans but impose excessive restrictions, preventing users from properly utilizing what they've paid for.

Thats what happens when you oversell by about 500 times with mjjs blasting the port 24/7

  • How did you conclude that it was an imposed restriction unless told otherwise by their TOS?

Encountered feedback from many customers who bought their products, all reporting the same issue.
Others have also raised the same issue here:

The real question is can they even do anything about it, given that they are basically reselling Alibaba Cloud?

  • I remember there was data showing that less than 0.4% of customers were affected. Are you one of them? What actions have you taken?

  • I was planning on buying from them because the price is good. What do you recommend?

In fact, claw official does not have any TOS instructions and cold processing speed limit feedback.
The above-mentioned black box speed limit can be easily reproduced, especially in Hong Kong Region.

Your post mentioned that after around 40GB of traffic, the bandwidth is limited to 100Mbps.

But then you said that downloading large files on Claw is impossible.

I'm really curious—how large is this "large file" exactly? Would 40GB or 50GB not be enough to complete the download?

Also, I've experienced the bandwidth limit before, but it quickly returned to normal. In my opinion, this doesn’t affect regular usage.

I was able to reproduce this as well in Tokyo. This indeed wasn't communicated previously.

Does anyone knows if this is also the case with their VDS lineup?

  • is 200Mbps shared port, i dont think they allow long timing bursting the port.

Hmmm I gave it some time to idle and retried and indeed the speed not went back to 200Mbps. It seems it's only an issue for continuous usage, although I would like it if they could provide some exact numbers.

Yup same thing happens for their VDS lineup as well
