Looking for QEMU-based seedbox-compatible provider near AU
Hi all,
My current VPS provider has proven non-seedbox-compatible, so it's time to find a new one.
In true LET fashion, I have a main single VPS instance which I use for everything - quickly inspecting large files, leaving scripts running overnight, and qBittorrent. I really like this status quo.
So it looks like it's time to switch to a different service and remember a new IP address... here are a few things I'm on the lookout for:
Firstly obviously is seedbox compatibility (but I don't need Plex streaming). I understand this rules out the major VM players. I'm willing to work with smaller providers and help trial beta features! :)
It would be great if the machine was geographically close to Australia
My current provider offers access to QEMU's VNC console, which lets me reinstall my preferred OS (Debian stable)†. I've also used it to un-jam my VM on occasion (I like to tinker).
I've found disk IOPS on my current provider to be very poor quite a lot of the time (sometimes my VM would resemble a Linux box just resumed from hibernation). I wouldn't mind paying a small premium to run on a host with fewer VMs so I can see more of the 150-200MB/s potential of HDDs. This is not to make qBittorrent faster but more about overall system responsiveness. I don't need SSD, NVMe, or a dedibox.
I'm currently paying AUD$20/US$13/€12/mo for my current VPS. This is the target I'd like to either match or beat.
Thanks very much for reading!

† Reinstallation: Resize running partition; make a new tiny one at the end of the disk; perform a throwaway debootstrap; add GRUB; reboot into temporary system; recreate the primary partition; debootstrap new system. My toy Oracle Cloud instance which I did this on still thinks it's running Oracle Linux
