Is there any software that can replace Telegram?

tdy0923tdy0923 Member

Telegram is always inexplicably and subtly having all sorts of problems, it's just too hard to use, there were already 3000+ users in the group, suddenly I can't log in, and I can't get the verification code on my phone, so I don't want to use it anymore, is there anything you can recommend to replace it?

Can wordpress published articles be automatically pushed to Discord?

  • There are apps out there but there is one huge problem - users. Will you friends agree to migrate to Discord, Signal etc? If yes, you are very lucky.

If it's only you who send messages, you can use WhatsApp Channels, but it's public.

It does take a process, but I'm a resource orientated group so I can migrate over some of it, if I continue to use TG I'm afraid I'll be in more trouble later, this is really nasty.

I convinced lots of people to communicate with me through Signal instead of WhatsApp. Took awhile but today they're cool with it

that's a bummer, I am moving over to telegram slowly. But thanks for sharing the potential problems.

All in all Telegram is not suitable for building up too much customer resources, because as it stands I have 3 TG numbers that have more or less run into problems, and some of them can't be changed, and in some cases they can be costly to you, so use them with caution.

tbh I just uninstalled WhatsApp regularly and it was always a project to try to get me to install it again (which I did a few times) but then I guess it got too annoying to ask me to install WhatsApp over and over again so Signal it was :D

Maybe it is a different culture out there, I always struggled to drag people to Signal.

Most other options suggested so far have somewhat low limit of group users for your needs.

I personally would recommend Signal but it has maximum of 1024 users per group.
    The same for Whatsapp probably.
    Session only allows 100 users.

Either Simplex, Matrix or Discord (only as a last resort) will do. The issue with fully E2EE apps is they need to encrypt and send the message for each group member which usually scales badly.

Telegram didn't use E2EE at all for groups (which is not good btw) so it had no limit on the number of users.

Feeling bad, looks like I have to compromise on Telegram, oops.

But thanks for saying this to me so I don't have to try anything random.

Telegram will require one of their official clients to receive verification codes, in case you were not using one.

This is a serious bug, any client can receive the captcha, but if you fail to log in on the official client, you can still receive the captcha and log in successfully on other third-party clients, and then your account will be banned.

In addition, Telegram's own client will not receive the verification code once you stop at the two-step verification process.

Telegram is arrogant and won't listen to you, but just tells you that this is the way it works.

From top to bottom, Session is built on crypto. Crypto as in encryption, and crypto as in cryptocurrency. Crypto is what makes Session…Session.

And that's the extent of my stay on that site :D

Crypto for a chat application? Come on :D
