Best Self-Hosted Email Marketing Software: Sendy, Acelle Mail, or MailWizz?

bagongzbagongz Member

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring self-hosted email marketing solutions and have narrowed my options down to three popular choices: Sendy, Acelle Mail, and MailWizz. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with these platforms to help me make an informed decision.

Here’s what I’m looking for in a solution:

Ease of use: How beginner-friendly is the platform?
Features: Does it support advanced features like automation, segmentation, and analytics?
Performance: How well does it handle large email lists?
Cost-effectiveness: Is it worth the price compared to other options?
Integration: Does it work well with SMTP services like Amazon SES, Mailgun, or others?

If you’ve used any of these tools (or even alternatives I might have missed), I’d appreciate it if you could share your experience. Which one do you think offers the best value for a self-hosted setup?

Thanks in advance for your input!

If I had to vote for something, it would be Sendy and then Mailwizz, in that order. I don't have experience with either, but Sendy's been around for a long time and is well-known.

    Personally I've used Mailtrain.
    Listmonk is another decent alternative.

AFAIK there is no functions like segmentation/drip etc, but analytics and automation yes. Listmonk's API is amazing as well and super performant.

I have always connected it to Amazon SES due to pricing, but I guess mail.baby may work, as they support "API", but I haven't tested/cant confirm that.

Listmonk - quite good, currently use in production + Postmark as SMTP sender.
Keila -tried once, would like to try more.
Mautic - i just found this and never had change to try.

Edit: my apologize for not hearing about any of those you have mentioned in the OP thread. Here is some of my suggestions.

You might wanna checkout MailRivo (mailrivo.com). It's a modern, more feature-rich version of sendy. Better in automations, bounce spam handling, reporting, landing pages etc.

Yes, ListMonk is a good choice. It is mostly written in the Go programming language.
