Alexhost now requiring KYC?
I just tried to sign up and order a VPS through Alexhost using a VPN and throwaway email and my account got marked as fraud. I contacted support and they said in order to unlock my account I would need to provide a photo ID. Why even offer 'DMCA ignore' hosting w/ ability to pay with crypto then?
In the mean time, any other solid DMCA ignored providers I could look at?

DMCA ignore doesn't mean they are bullet proof..... They will do whatever necessary including handing out your data if asked by authorities.
I understand it's not the same as bulletproof. My point is, anyone seeking out a host that ignores DMCA complaints would surely be hesitant to hand over a copy of their photo ID.

Different POV and different scenarios, DMCA is murican doesn't work in most countries, I mean they aren't liable to take action because of some crossborder law. Here's an example assume you bought a service from me I live in India and have no obligation to consider DMCA notices but in India we have KYC policies and customer data retention policies for certain businesses and I am liable to collect kyc from my end users. And instead of copyright I am liable to respond and take action on copyright laws here, we have a term here and it's called "Law of the land".

you got blocked right after signup or after you make your payment?
merchants usually use anti-fraud system, if this system blocked you, you might need take certain actions to unblock. but providing photo ID is nonsense
and they sell it. Be happy!
I never made a payment - I registered my account and tried to place an order and immediately got a notification that due to anti-fraud measures my account had been locked. I cannot reference the ticket ID because after being told I would need to provide photo ID I requested that staff delete my account and they did as such.
So you're saying if I have to do some potentially sketchy and questionable acts subject to DMCA I should choose India? What providers?

What the.... How did you reached that conclusion? I just gave an example if you are going to do something sketchy host it at home and proxy it with some bulletproof server(s). And as for India it's unfriendly and require kyc and whatnot and the best logs are to be maintained for upto two years so you are doomed either way and we have a saying, India is not for beginners.....
Hello, firstly you registered as you indicated with a temporary email.
That's it, you need to validate the email, even if it's temporary (and yes, it is possible to validate it, we know). The Anti-Fraud System must have detected VPN + Temporary Email as suspected fraud, spam or other activities.
There's another problem here, payment gateways:
In Europe and around the world they are requiring payment gateways to verify with passport or other documentation, this kind of law and/or proposed law is not our fault. We don't like it, but if you're using a normal means of payment such as a credit card or paypal or whatever, they can demand or ask for the customer to be verified, one way or another.
Here's how it will soon (hopefully not) be applied to hosting companies, payment methods (some have done it by default for a long time), others not... In the meantime we're moving towards this:
In this case, we don't ask for KYC when you pay by cryptocurrency. We always warn you, we've said it several times here on the forum and we recommend paying by cryptocurrency.

This happened to me once, used a VPN and a SimpleLogin email and they marked me as fraud and wanted KYC even though I selected pay with Crypto.
I will never use them
