I've been using MXRoute for 8 years and it's great
I've used both. I like both. I think the more user-friendly option is Cranemail because of the 'all in one' packaging with it if your concern is user-friendliness. Delivery rates is about the same for both. Both Francisco and Jar work hard on their products.
Im using both cause im a professional LET-idler
not either or but both!
MxRoute for ...me
I chose MXRoute because unlimited domains vs 15 (even though I will most likely use just 2-3
).
Let me add I did pay The Crane for that lifetime deal, but haven't had the time to use it
I don't think you will go wrong with either, both Fran and Jar are competent and honest (and let me say whatever I want to without banning me unlike the fascists on a power trip)
Mxroute
Never use CraneMail but Fran reputation is great. I used Jar email about 3 email per day and it also work well.
You can go any of them without trouble or will be solved very well.
Not talking in terms of price, if CraneMail MTA quality is similar to Mxroute, besides @jar being a cool guy, I do not see any other advantage of Mxroute vs CraneMail.
Looks like it really comes down to the all in one "suite" vs. unlimited domains?
Both have a high quality but for me the support from namecrane was a little better but thats only my subjective opinion
Comparing strong ethics, a ton of experience and proven reliability vs some crane. Go for the route, it is right route, it is mxroute.
Both seem like good options, but how do they compare technically? I'm not very familiar with the technical aspects of email hosting—can someone shed some light on this?
What do you mean by all in one suite? Both of them have same set of features or different?
We have more of a business suite with the doc editing, contacts, calendar, video conf, cloud storage, etc, along side email.
Francisco
Been using MXRoute for years. It's a solid product and Jar is a good dude. Cranemail is still new, but I trust Fran and Co enough that I use it for some important emails as well.
Do you use webmail? If so, MXRoute offers the time proven and probably very familiar Roundcube client. I highly prefer it over the flashy SmarterMail client or whatever Crane uses. I can't stand a pop-up composer, in-line is superior in every way. Plus I highly prefer having a simple list of several inboxes visible via DirectAdmin that I can SSO into and manage for domains that require it versus the SmaterMail way.
But I'm also an old man and change gets me all flustered. The SmarterMail setup is certainly more visually pleasing and I'm sure the extra few clicks here and there is something I could get used to eventually if I really needed to.
Honestly? Both are good. I'm not a nerd who sets a timer and compares how long either product takes to deliver to gmail or anything weird like that. Both work and work fine. Use a desktop and mobile client and never login to either interface after setup like a real man.
I have been very happy with MXroute but have not tried Namecrane and so can't really compare them accurately.
By all-in-one suite, I think @zed was referring to having calendar, contacts and other features integrated into the same package alongside email. As @jar has said before on this forum his service mainly centres around just email, although personally I don't find this an issue and find it more of an advantage to keep my contacts/calendar separate on Google (a Google account created with my custom email).
Happy customer for both.
MXRoute has really amazing delivery, and can serve as a premium SMTP relay if you opt to build your own mailserver.
Cranemail has in my opinion a cleaner domain management portal (compared to directadmin) and supports some fancy features such as mailing list/subscription management.
goonmail
@jar has always taken care of us, would recommend. I rarely log into anything mail-related so I can't comment on features/etc. As long as mail is making it in and out I prefer to never think about it, and I've almost never had to think about it with MXRoute for years. I still think he doesn't charge enough but that just means buy it while you can at this price.
No personal experience with Cranemail, but I wouldn't imagine Fran puts out a subpar product.
Got it! I was originally considering a service that only offers email, but the features you offer could definitely come in handy. I might also give Cranemail a try later on.
This point made me lean towards MXRoute, as in every other aspect, both seem to be as good as it gets.
CraneMail Lifetime
mxroute has smtp? how they pricing works? i mainly want to use it as notification on movie update or authentication/otp email, does monthly payment include unlimited smtp?
Mxroute also has an office suite type things from https://crossbox.io/tour it has nexcloud and others built in
https://mail.mxlogin.com/#!/dashboard
CraneMail Lifetime too
migrated from mxroute to cranemail
mxroute is good, just because crane has clouddrive feature so I migrated
but currently cranemail US still has some connection issue to china mainland, makes me have to setup a selfhost reverse proxy until cranemail US connect with cogent(which makes cranemail US has same network like buyvm)
Okay, so I'm pretty new in creating a Email hosting account, please help me out, that what this "hostname" should be? As I'll be using multiple custom domains, then does setting this hostname to anything conflicts with those cvustom domains? or should it be a different domain then the ones I plan to add as custom domains?
I’ve almost never had any problem with MXRoute
I’ve never had a serious problem with them anyway
They’ve impressed me more than once
Although, @jar — sometimes when I go into my mail, especially (only?) on iOS, it ”often” says it can’t reach the mailserver only to work after a few seconds. Have you seen this?
I don’t use any other IMAP that’s not iCloud itself so can’t say if it’s them or you.
I don’t think it matters. I’d enter a domain you probably won’t get rid of but that’s just for looks.
