Cheap cPanel and addon licenses for VPS

I currently just bought a Racknerd VPS license and was hoping to get cPanel but didn't want to pay more for the control panel than the VPS itself.

I unfortunately brought a license on licensedash and that turned out to be a scam site. I was hoping to find something that would offer cPanel, Softaculous, Jetbackup, Imunify360 and FleetSSL on the cheap. I found a few sites, but worried they are all scams now.

They aren't cheap..... Maybe look for something else like hestiacp or maybe keyhelp......

How cheap is your Racknerd VPS?

See cPanel partner pricing here and don't expect it to be legit if it's lower than what's listed:

I guess the only way to get them cheap is to find a provider that bundles them with their servers.

There are license resellers out there, but none of them are really cheap, definitely not in the LET sense of it.

Those that are cheap, provide "shared licenses". Eg. sharing the same license with multiple users, which is not really legal.
Even if you ignore that, all of them want you to run a shady binary on your server to do the licensing stuff, which I definitely would not recommend.

Why don't you just buy hosting maybe shared, reseller or even specific crates installed with license with specific configurations from - NameCrane [I am using them they are quite great] @Francisco or Hostbrr @labze [generally heard good things about them except few downtimes which they dealt swiftly ] & more if you just search once in shared hosting offers section :)

For external license providers, your best legitimate deal will likely be doing a bundle purchase from somewhere like LicensePal, who offer bundle discounts: https://www.licensepal.com/products/cpanel.php

Also worth mentioning that FleetSSL was shutdown last year, but cPanel has it's own AutoSSL option to achieve the same thing (included in the product).

You can probably optimize the costs a little more if needed:

    • Perhaps avoid JetBackup and use cPanel's built-in backup system.

    • Perhaps avoid Softaculous and use WP Toolkit (included with cPanel). If you or your users are an "average" customer, the main thing they'll want is to install WordPress quickly, which the WP Toolkit does fine.

    • Perhaps avoid Imunify360 and install ConfigServer Firewall with a good mod_security ruleset, like OWASP.

Other than that, maybe look at a free panel install. Hestia Control Panel gets a lot of love here on LET.

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am open to using something outside cPanel; just have a lot of experience with it. I will check out the recommendations above.

@AllHost_Rep My VPS was $59/year for a KVM VP (24TB bandwidth, 6GB RAM and 140GB space)

DirectAdmin is the most mature alternative to cPanel, pricing is reasonable. Could also look at ApisCP but its a bit more "hands-on".

The only viable commercial alternate to CPanel is DA. No other panel comes near to that.

  • I'm now looking at either DirectAdmin or CyberPanel..anyone have why one over the other. I don't mind the $5/month for DA if its worth it.

    Try contacting Racknerd @dustinc
They may offer you cheaper DA license.

  • Also would like to have docker support

Look at webuzo. Much cheaper than cpanel and decent.

if it is for personal use and you are familiar with basic vps management, try opensource hestiacp control panel.

I highly recommend Directadmin as an alterative to cPanel, their support is good too
