Just use your own home machine if using VPN.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to use VPN for torrenting unless you have Port forward feature. Otherwise, just use free socks5 proxy from VPN Unlimited.

Was thinking about that... It is necessary to use proxy/VPN while torrenting only from Private Trackers on a VPS?
Check out : https://www.host4fun.com/canada-vps
what budget you have?
I used professional seedbox provider: Whatbox.ca. It has a US location which is very fast peering to Canada, but I remember lowest is $15 US dollar per month.
Don't know. I use PIA with port forwarding and recently got a newsgroup subscription.
I think no for PT, unless the tracker is a honey pot setup by FBI.
U think Canada is not dmca ignore country
That's why OP wants to set up a VPN in the VPS. Basically, they're trying to create their own seedbox, probably because they already have a VPN subscription.
What I don't get is in the scenario where seeding ratio matter usually it means private trackers, which won't require a VPN since DMCA bots ain't gonna waste their time trying to collect the very limited torrent available each day compared to public trackers where they can just grab everything.
maybe he/she also plan to sell it (if it works) to cover the cost because fast network & bw requirement
No, I do not have another VPN subscription.
What I want to set up is a VPN server (wireguard or openvpn) on a VPS which is located in Canada. Then my local machine I will connect to the VPN (hosted on this newly acquired VPS) and torrent on my local machine.
Why Canada = country where I reside and being close to VPS will give me fastest speeds.

No, only for personal use.

Nope, you don’t need a VPN or proxy for private trackers. Which tracker, though? Because some of them are semi-private and might need a VPN for extra peace of mind.
public trackers.
i am not subscribed to any private ones.
MAM
The end is nigh on this one.
Public in Canada will definitely require VPN
MAM is safe to torrent from pretty much any VPS, but you need to be mindful of their no shared IP rule. You must inform the staff of the IP to get it whitelisted unless you log in to the site using the same IP.
sorry, what is MAM?
My Anon a Mouse - a private tracker for audiobooks, radio and books
You can give us a try in Montreal. Check out our plans here, which should fit your needs.
I thought private tracker just meant membership, not short lived torrents.
Not really. If you're West Coast, Seattle is often better routed. If east coast, you also got New York instead of Toronto.
I'd guess his VPS provider would care more than the national ISPs like Rogers and Telus. They generally just forward piracy complaints with no teeth, just mostly embarrassing. Whereas the VPS provider might take real action if multiple reports.
Very few trackers have that limitation, that too only for new accounts.
membership, a very active community, and torrents that live longer than any public tracker. Long-term retention and availability of rare stuff is the main reason they exist.
@pkamdar, if you just want content, I would suggest joining a private tracker so that you don’t have to worry about VPNs or DMCA etc.
It’s good as a beginner-level tracker to rank up and get into others specialized in movies and music, and so on. 😀
Tbh I really use it because i like audiobooks and i'm not a big fan of movies and music (i listen the ones i like on Youtube lol). So i have only TL for general things, Avistaz for kdramas (i love it) and of course MAM. Would appreciate a PTP invite tho if you have lol
Haha that’s the end goal lol
Maybe in 2 yrs I’ll get there
What?
