Defacto billing software
It’s been around 10 years since I ran a hosting company and debating about dabbling again. What is the defacto billing software nowadays. My default would be WHMCS. I’m looking for something that has a client area, the ability to paste custom strings (ssh keys) with the normal billing and support desk.
Comments
WHMCS, HostBill, ClientExec, Blesta
Oh, I think there are already multiple threads with the same question
Just WHMCS, bro. Don’t look at anything else. Not worth the hassle. Price is just fine if you’re not running a fly-by-night op.
Whmcs if you plan fly-by-night and over the counter scam operation. Hostbill if you think that you will have interest in your business after a year. Clientexec if you like false promises and abandonment. Blesta if you are into half baked solutions.
Haahahah, HostBill… what a joke. 😂🤡
Also mention Ubersmith while you’re at it and you’ll be a proper clown. 🤡
WHMCS is by far the best solution. Period. Easiest for devs, and it just works. Rest of them.. absolute shite.
Aha, just a little bonus - yearly price increase
. Shanking you like a dirty b
Bro, what's the problem? I can't go to the shop that there isn't something that isn't more expensive now? It's the same shit everywhere. Yeah, WHMCS don't do much... as a matter of fact, they do fuck all... but they still have to pay the oversized teams, overpaid employees, et cetera... what can you do about it? Adapt or wither and die.. there's literally nothing else you can do. But, you still can't claim that WHMCS isn't by far the easiest to work on by /any/ dev with PHP knowledge, period.
I will happily be that mug and continue paying my 5 monthly licenses to them, and continue accepting thte price increases... same like I continue going to the shops... you know, kinda 'cause I have to. You're either going to be a cheapskate and use half-baked shit like everything else you mentioned, or use a stress-tested product like WHMCS and accept the fact that everyone is increasing their prices. In every industry.
Nope, not everyone increase price each year. Greed drive price increases not rationale.
P.s. aside of bad support, Hostbill is the best software solution for europe providers. You can sing whatever you want, but that’s battle tested resolution.
Look like either you have no knowledge or have no experience. Or maybe no budget
This is the joke. Not sure if you have used it
HostBill is shit, I stand behind my statement. Mediocre, over-priced Polish (nothing against the Polish people) shit that is impossible to be worked on by 98% of devs, and you have to go through monkeys to get shit done. No thank you.
WHMCS for the win.
Money not an issue here. Just dealing with monkeys.
Here we go again, again "Mine is better" vs "Nope, mine is better" and, except @Verasel, no arguments, just assertions like "is the best software solution for europe providers" and/or "battle-proven" ... and some even resort to ad hominems and/or insults.
Arguments, gentlemen, arguments please! And counter-arguments if what you say gets challenged.
That way something can be learned here.
What I found funny is, @Verasel doesn't even have a WHMCS instance installed. Everything you want to buy, is via Signal which is a big red flag.
I would avoid listen to this guy and talking with him overall.
I agree with you, I only do business with people I want to do business with, not people ridiculing the proprietor of the community, or time wasters, or fraudsters.
Manual, vetted orders, server provision first, and if the customer is happy. He pays, and he decides how he wants to pay. Be it with a Credit Card, Bank Transfer, Crypto, Cash, or whatever the hell he wants. But, I don't sell to potential skids, or time wasters.
Free speech or not, your username is stupid and childish. But you do you, freak.
Hats off to all those MF who will order anything from a "host/provider" with such attitude! I would rather burn all my money instead of giving to you!
We use WHMCS and are migrating to blesta, our new locations have blesta and the fantastic support is not complete but we see a great future with the software
With all due respect, what is wrong with my attitude?
I ask the potential client what he wants to host, I tell him if I can host it. If I can't, I point him in the right direction. For free.
If I can host him, I give him the best possible price on the market, and I provision it first, with the desired settings: OS, RAID, etc. everything configured properly. Client checks, and if he agrees that everything is OK, he can pay me.
Please, tell me. How is my attitude so bad?
I have very few customers, but I am quite happy, and I joined LET to share advice, and try and see if I can get a few customers here and there, that might not be happy with providers that ask for too much money, because I am in a position to offer the cheapest and true unmetered 10GB/s ports, incl. SAS drives for storage.
Is that so bad of me?
I paid for my Patron Tag as soon as I joined, I don't know why it hasn't been applied, but I have done everything correctly, and I have been nothing but helpful here.
So please, once again, tell me what is so wrong with my attitude? I don't want to end up in a situation where I host something bad and I put everyone at risk. Selling en masse is easy money, but it's also not safe. At least not if you're operating in multiple jurisdictions (legally).
The margins are quite tight, and I don't want to spend it on lawyers, if I can reinvest it into the business.
Please. Tell me. What is so bad about my attitude? I simply don't want to host:
etc, anything illegal.
Civil shit, I couldn't give two fucks, and most people here probably don't care either.
what
I've worked with 4 different DevOps companies from Poland. Terrible work ethics, no replies whatsoever after "work hours". Wait for days to get anything fixed. It seems to be a thing with Polish dev companies, at least from my experience.
Take it with a grain of salt. But I've had no such issues with American, German, Cypriot or even... Russian and Ukrainian companies. Only Polish and Turkish, to be fair.
We used WHCMS and AWBS, but since 2013, we have switched to BillManager, developed by https://www.ispsystem.com/, because we could not find any other billing solution that met all of our requirements for legal and technical aspects. It is not cheap or perfect, but it does the job.
BillManager does work, that much I can attest to.
For CIS companies, I think only solution to be legally compliant.
Still, it indeed does do the job. Just not for my use case, sadly.
Do you accept rubles?
How often do your jimmies get rustled? You must so broke, and/or such a failure at web dev that you built so much hatred inside of you that you can't help but think of yourself to be a total and utter nuisance. But, what you really are is a sad and pathetic little man that can't accept the fact that you clearly suck at whatever it is that you tried to do (and failed miserably at) and now all you can do is try and "troll", but you're so unoriginal and boring that it comes off as pure bitterness, so all one can do is literally feel sorry for you, and want to give you some money so you can buy a domain, some hosting, and go to BlackHatWorld.com and try to think of some quick money-making scheme to make you into a man, so you can stop being a hateful little boy.
Try harder.
I'm willing to bet $250 USD right now that you're a broke bitch.
Prove me wrong.
isnt this lowendtalk because most people here are in places without much purchasing power
Sure boss, whatever you say. Can you donate me 1 btc and help a broke human to be great again?
Yeah, just like I thought. Roll over like a little bitch boy, and refuse to admit that you're a hateful little shit because you couldn't succeed at your "SaaS" shit, or whatever dev work you were trying to do.
It ain't our fault, bro.
Be a man, and own up to your shit. Own up to your failures. Stop being hateful.
That's quite literally it. If you had anything going for you, you wouldn't be so goddamn hateful.
The point here is that this person is extremely hateful and takes it upon himself to belittle others for no apparent reason. Well, in my honest opinion, he is doing so because he failed at whatever business ventures he attempted to do. That's about it. I personally think that what he's doing is wrong, and that he should focus his energy on doing something good, and not at some low-tier wannabe trolling that literally makes you want to give him a hug and help him out.
