Which open-source panel that does exactly what I want?

  • Where is the company legally located? They do not cooperate with the KGB, but they only have legal websites.

Hahaha, maybe you'll also provide a certificate saying they don't cooperate with the KGB and aren't a KGB project?

It doesn't matter where the company is located. The essence doesn't change. It's a Russian panel made by Russians.

Technically, I am fine with FastPanel, but I don't want to use a commercial or closed-source control panel.

What is the reason for that? Are you actually able to read and understand code, so that you can debug problems? Or is it more the feeling of "someone else has probably looked at it and therefore it feels safe"?

Don't get me wrong, no offense meant, just trying to understand your rationale...

I don't want to use FastPanel because it's under the roof of the KGB.

It's funny, Fastvps is an Estonian company, what KGB are you talking about?)

This user is raving about this topic, leave him alone finding the best free low hosting panel in this world without be viewed by KGB.

May be like only office. They had relocated to Latvia but they sell a fork of same software in russia with some other name.

I'm currently using FastPanel, but I would like to try an open-source, free, reliable, lightweight, and low-resource consuming (CPU, RAM, disk) VPS/VDS control panel. So far, I'm considering HestiaCP (I used VestaCP a few years ago). Please, recommend a panel. My main needs are adding and configuring websites and email.

I personally used HestiaCP for hobby project years ago. Very good memories with it!

HestiaCP under the roof of NDB, and the KGB sucks, along with FastPanel

  • FastPanel is definitely more user-friendly compared to HestiaCP. Hestia has worse usability, and you often have to manually configure basic things via SSH. For example, there's no direct access to email inboxes from the panel without entering usernames and passwords, and there's no direct login to phpMyAdmin from a specific domain. Overall, I'm disappointed with HestiaCP—it feels like it's created unnecessary headaches for no reason. Anyway, I'm switching back to FastPanel for now.

Wonder why they don't support MySQL and instead install MariaDB.

MariaDB is more scalable and offers a higher query speed when compared to MySQL in case of large-sized data and it's mostly the same usage wise. Most app that needs MySQL will function correctly on MariaDB

Beside aaPanel, TinyCP is also worth a try IMO

Edit: TinyCP is not opensource, sorry

Except json data types. Maria DB have limited support to JSON objects vs MySQL support extensively with full text search, indexing etc. We use JSON object for dynamic data types.

NoSQL db like mongo would be better suited for that

Having multiple DB during early days of product is highly difficult to maintain, so we choose to stick with MySQL DB as primary DB as we have lot of relational data to be managed for other modules, Also setting up a HA cluster is fairly easy with MySQL router and MySQL Shell.

I believe there is a slight difference between shareware and opensource. It's not even freeware.
