AsRock Motherboards B650D4U & etc...

Interesting, Hetzner announced plans to replace motherboards (B665D4U-1L from ASRock Rack Inc.) for three lines of servers, and it will take around a year to replace all of them.

I personally experienced issues with ASRock B650D4U motherboards—had to send them for RMA repeatedly. The server would just shut down without warning and wouldn’t turn back on at all or Debug Code 00. However, still no info what is causing the issue.

Curious, what exactly happened at Hetzner with these motherboards? Thoughts?

It's known now that there were manufacturing defects at the particular factory when the older boards were made. Newer boards are fine. It doesn't affect every older board either.

Correct. From what we have learned from ASrock Rack it was something to do with a vendor that was used for BIOS chips. They've since switched back to the original manufacturer. Impacted boards seemed to be manufactured from Q1 to Q3 2024. They've been responsive regarding RMA's and new boards seem to be problem free.

I have old boards that are flawless, and new ones. Timeline seems right. I RMA'd two late last year to Taiwan and they got back in a week, worked ever since.

We also had problems with this, thank goodness the problems started earlier and we stopped buying this model. We had to replace 20 boards, a very time consuming job.

Hey, we already had a thread about this here:

    https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/201797/hetzner-motherboard-replacements-for-ax42-ax52-and-ax102

Mods could you merge the posts above into that thread? @Arkas maybe, thank you?
