Server management

Had a server down for 6 hours while I was sleeping. I had to manually reboot. Cause unknown. To prevent this in the future, I am looking for a server management company. I came across bobcares Is this trustworthy?

We do offer server management as a pro service, but before you hire someone did you manage to figure out why the server was OFFLINE or why i didn't boot right up? Usually its just a matter of adding some monitoring automation

Bobcares does the bare minimum, and they’re extremely slow.
    I’d recommend against using them.

  • It's always nice to have someone to help with O&M.

But here's the kicker - is the server going down related to the provider? Or is it really caused by lack of maintenance?

If it's the former then it's always going to happen, if it's the latter, you're the one who needs to pay for it.

  • Rack911. I think they are still fully CA/USA, no Punjabi.

  • Could this be related to the LA fires? You didn't mention where the DC is.

Perhaps you just need to subscribe to a server monitoring service that texts your phone when your server is down.

No, I checked all logs nothing indicates why server went offline. When logged via KVM console was unresponsive. I handle most of the server tasks by myself but situations like these need someone who can fix immediately when it goes down. Usually this never happens in 3-5 months but you can't predict.

I don't know the reason yet. Had a RAM failure but @1gservers replaced recently.

I don't see any information about them, not even contact information. How can I give someone my server when I don't know about the company?

  • Maybe your host turned it off. Wouldn’t be the first time they’re caught red handed

It was frozen when I logged into kvm and checked it.
