So, buyvm sold. Is it sad? Probably not. Who gives a f
.
Personally for me, word AI in business means bullshit.
It looks like something that would not be allowed in sweden
@Francisco will BuyVM rebrand to BuyAI or will it be BuyVMAI?
need to go spend $10M buying buy.ai.
Francisco
Thank you, done. I am not very active on social
Let’s hope you got paid well then
Wait, are you Swede?!
this changes absolutely everything!
Yes
Explain
If you can pull off a new Swiss location .. I think that would be a descent trade off from Lux
One day I will. That is unbelievable! Wow.
Looking forward to it.
My last experience with "AI powered" vps was cringe. I know it's a trauma related reaction but this "AI" biz makes me more than a little uncomfortable.
I thought you were Danish!
Congrats @Francisco but shit i bought a vps this week only at Luxembourg man 😂😆
😡
Congrats @Francisco wishing you all the best for your future projects and plannings.
@Hannan Congrats on the new venture! Wishing you tons of success and growth in your new hosting journey!
Saar congrats on the acquisition/ partnership can you kindly bring any Asia locations too ? we need them slices in Asian locations 💪😉
I'm excited for Namecrane, but will, for example, Lux shared hosting remain at the Lux datacenter?
Disappointing to hear about the move from Lux to NL for BuyVM.
And what about Incogvpn? Will the Lux locations remain, given that they're based on the BuyVM network? @MannDude
No, Crane will also go somewhere else.
LUX is a very premium priced location for everything. Transport (what we use to reach Hurricane) is literally ~15x what the same service costs in NL. Crane can't justify the BW usage.
We used to use root.lu for bandwidth, racks, and remote hands, but some years ago they closed all 'non native' customer accounts. That's why we suddenly moved with luxconnect direct. Its been stressful since then.
I like swiss, and think it'd be a great fit for cranemail at minimum.
Francisco
It'd move to wherever Lux moves to since they're our upstream for our Lux VPN POP.
Just realised that BuyVM's moving LUX to NL will take me up to 6 VPS in NL - more than I even have in my home country!
And continuing that conversation from the megathread, I probably need to rethink my
provider-location-number
naming scheme as this will take me to 4 machines with an incorrect location in the name.Congrats.
In LowEndWorld, you either cash in a hero or sell long enough to Deadpool.

Lets lean on @Hannan to do ZH instead
Francisco
I realise you might need a new strategy for bandwidth pricing if so, but BuyVM's anycast would be massively more useful with some presence in APAC.
I was thinking about this exact thing when I read the naming conventions. Location is a hard thing to fit in
Location is also hard when you factor in stuff like region names having different meanings in different countries and deciding which one to go after, as well as DC’s often being ”right outside of xyz”
I want a proper naming scheme as well, right now I have two sets:
1. Characters in tv shows etc
2. Use case
Idlers gets placed in 1, prod stuff in 2
In 2, a typical name might be ”docker” for example
I don't believe this in the slightest.
Please DM me some reputable IPTV providers, ideally under $10/mo just so I can verify for myself
so... seems like the move is going to happen no matter what. Should I start cancelling my yearlies then? Or will you provide a prorated refund if we refuse to move? I don't want 20 VPSs in NL to be honest.
How about we have a few to chew on it. NL's basically the fallback, while I'd prefer ZH.
How does ZH work for you?
Francisco
Can we at least have @Hannan confirm that a Swiss DC is not a choice they're considering instead of NL?
