Don't use Grid Hosting

I don't know if they're on here, but I needed to air this somewhere, so here goes. Stay away from Grid Hosting, they're an absolute joke of a company. Issues I've had:

  • After signing a colo contract, got hounded with e-mails every couple of days from their sales rep asking when hardware was going to ship, despite me telling them there was a delay in preparing hardware and that I would let them know when I was ready to send it.
  • A week after first payment, got a "third and final reminder" that payment was due for an already paid invoice.
  • After hardware was racked, was getting incredibly poor speeds at all times, but was told that there was no issue or congestion on their end (clearly untrue).
  • The absolute kicker was when they e-mailed with less than a month's notice to say that they were doubling the price of my contract.
  • When I put in a service cancellation request, an offer was made for a lower price increase and my ticket was closed before I had a chance to reply.
  • My card was then charged 2 weeks early for 2 months' service, going beyond when my contract should have been due to end (30 days from my notice). My cancellation request had still not been acknowledged. Finally got them to acknowledge my cancellation by issuing a chargeback and card block. By then, my last day of service would be December 26th.
  • Wanting to avoid trying to get my equipment back during the Christmas period, I opened a ticket asking if de-racking could be done immediately. In reply, I was sent an offer retain my service at the current price, which I declined. Further requests to de-rack early were then ignored, and the 26th came and went.
  • As of time of writing, I'm still trying to get confirmation that my server has been de-racked and is ready for return shipping.

So yeah, not the best customer experience, to put it mildly. Avoid at all costs.

  • Oh whoops, I've just realised I've put this in the wrong forum! Should I delete and put it in Reviews?

Any reason for this? Like was it a random "hey lol we are 2x your price next month k bye"?

The reason they claimed was rising electricity costs driving up their costs across the board. But I'm somewhat skeptical (UK electricity prices are about the same now as when my contract started), and even if true, it could have been handled in a far better way.

  • For context, my P95 energy usage wasn't even close to the amperage I was already paying for.

@evoludo your account is very very new. This all helps us when we see reviews from new people, could be fake competition. Your pictures give you credibility, not just words. No additional words will change this, only pictures.

I wish you a very happy 2025 and I wish you better luck on picking good providers. I did not buy massivegrid but I got others and very very happy with them. But I have yet to see proof massivegrid has issues.

Aye, totally fair! Originally came on here to find a better provider after all the above shenanigans, but thought I'd also have a whinge. Will post pics soon.

To be honest, now I'm a bit less frustrated and rereading their correspondence, it doesn't seem wholly unreasonable (they were 4 days after the 30 day notice required in the contract), but still a lot of annoyances, and they could have handled the price increase a lot better (still nearly twice the price, not much notice). I don't entirely buy their explanation of electricity price increase. I still would not recommend them.

  • Were you on monthly contract with them? Just asking to see if there was any commitment promised.

  • I wasn't in a commitment period when they increased the price.

  • I committed to the lions share, and I pooped in my bed. Damn it GridHosting.

The saga fucking continues! They said they'd de-rack the equipment once I sent collection details, so I booked a collection for yesterday and sent details last Thursday, giving them a few days to de-rack and pack. I check the shipping progress today and it's not been collected -- the logistics company says that the driver buzzed to no answer, and even went up to their internal door and no-one answered there. I've now tried to ask for a reception number the driver can call but I'm just getting automated "we've escalated your query" responses from their support portal.

I take back my take backsies, still an utter joke.
