Advice or offers on managed VPS OR high-end reseller hosting (DirectAdmin, 250gb min. storage)
I'm a long time reader of LET, but since I'm getting a little option overloaded, thought to try this!
I'm currently use a Crowncloud VPS (8 gig, 4 core Ryzen 9 7950x - Germany) and I'm really positive about customer support and reliability. As it runs on a legacy license of DA I'm also missing some of the newer features and with adding storage expansion it's becoming a little too costly.
I'm realising I don't need all the added features the VPS offers. It would give me peace of mind knowing someone is making sure the servers and OS are all stable and secure.
Currently I'm hosting about 100 Wordpress sites. All are well maintained, and 80% are actually very simple sites without any major traffic and no bloat page builders. The other 20% do have more resource intensive plug-ins such a Woocommerce, or just generally more frequent traffic. Currently using 140gb of storage or so.
I'm looking for input or offers to help me work out the best way to grow my hosting offer out:
My current assessment:
VPS
+ dedicated resources
+ customisable to taste
+ more freedom to scale over time
- tricky set-up, you have to keep maintaining it
- you often need separate licenses, driving costs up
Reseller package
+ Usually very attractive pricing
+ Lots of features (Litespeed etc) included
- No way of knowing how much resources are actually allocated to you
- If you're on a top tier package you can't usually just upgrade easily
My wishes
* Located in Netherlands / Amsterdam, or in the UK
* 4 cores min. of a fast CPU (EPYC or Ryzen)
* At least 8 gig of ram
* At least 300GB storage with the option to expand
* Ability to use DirectAdmin back-ups to send to a Hetzner Storagebox every night (30 days rolling)
* Support available in case I run into issues I can't work out (currently this only happens once every couple of months)
* Fixed IP
* IPv6 availability would be a bonus
* Custom nameserver
* Litespeed would be a bonus
* Big & fast enough so I can host all my sites under a single DA log-in (would like to avoid having several packages / subscriptions)
Attractive options I've seen on the reseller side of things:
- Simplesonic have a reseller plan that seems to offer great specs at an attractive price. But I find it hard to know how reliable / dedicated the resources they promise would be in the longer term. Also, I'd be afraid that their largest 250gb plan would not give me enough space for growth.
- NameCrane offer their 'Crates' which are perhaps even more attractive due to their large storage options. And seems like support is quite accessible. But I find it really hard to get an idea of how performance would compare against my current set-up. As it's a newer service I also don't know how reliable their uptime is
My ideal option would perhaps be to have a reseller set-up, with access to all great DA / litespeed features many providers offer, but with the flexibility to perhaps have a custom plan or at least some kind of dedicated resources available. Maybe this does not exist however!
I would be willing to allocate around $50 / monthly for a good package, or a bit more if I knew it would set me up very well. Happy to pay for a year at a time also (in fact, prefer that!)
Thanks for any input or offers!

All of our nodes are Ryzen 7900/7950X, so the single thread is fantastic.
You're always welcome to order a smaller reseller to test what a single thread is like and go from there.

Thanks for the swift reply! How should I interpret the 'semi-dedicated' language? Perhaps I'm obviously influenced by the VPS marketing language of 'you get reserved resources' (which isn't always true either). The docs mention there's a cap on EP + Total processes , which I assume applies to the reseller account as a whole?
Appreciate the input!
TL;DR:
User currently on a CrownCloud VPS (8GB RAM, 4-core Ryzen 9 7950x, Germany) with DA legacy license but finds it costly with added storage. Hosting 100 WordPress sites (80% light, 20% resource-heavy like WooCommerce) using 140GB storage. Wants a simpler, cost-effective, scalable solution with good support.
Key needs:
- Netherlands/UK hosting
- 4 cores, 8GB RAM, 300GB+ expandable storage
- DirectAdmin, nightly backups to Hetzner Storagebox
- Fixed IP, IPv6 (bonus), custom nameservers
- Litespeed (bonus), single DA login for all sites
- Budget: ~$50/month, willing to pay annually
Current considerations:
- VPS: Dedicated, scalable, customizable but costly and requires maintenance.
- Reseller: Cost-effective, feature-rich but limited in resource transparency and scalability.
Options:
- Simplesonic Reseller Plan: Good specs/price but limited to 250GB storage.
- NameCrane Crates: Large storage, good support, but uncertain reliability/performance compared to the VPS.
Ideal setup would merge reseller features with VPS-level resource dedication, but not sure if this exists.
Check @LiteServer unlimited reseller plan.
You can't go wrong with namecrane!
@sem90
For your reference, WordPress benchmark score on @NameCrane hosting is 8+ which is good.
Since you are looking to cut down your budget , NameCrane is a good option, otherwise I would have suggested to look at hosting from MddHosting and KnownHost .
Edit : Check Hostbrr @labze and @speedypage too.
Sorry, missed your message last month.
The plans are very performant with memory and cpu being basically dedicated to your users. It’s not 100% dedicated like on a buyvm vps, but the vast majority of our nodes are quite roomy on cpu (and all are roomy on ram).
Storage is 100% dedicated with almost no oversell.
We have more nodes going up in LUX, NY, & UK this week. Vegas will be another week or two.
